Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL, Chinese: 西南政法大学 Pinyin: xīnán zhèngfǎ dàxué) is a national public university located in Chongqing, China.

It was founded in 1953 with the original name Southwest College of Political Science and Law. It was one of the oldest Faculty of Political Science and Law after the People's Republic of China was established.

Famous alumni include Liang Huixing, Liang Zhiping, He Weifang, and Zhang Xinbao, etc.

The university is an amalgamation of the political and law faculties of several universities in 1952. This include the Chongqing University, Sichuan University, Chongqing Finance and Economy College, Guizhou University and Yunnan University. The university was made into a Key university by the state council in 1978. This allowed it to take students from all over China. [1]

In 1995, the University was renamed Southwest University of Political Science and Law. In February 2002, the university was under transferred from the central government to the government Chongqing municipality.[2]
