The New Roads – St. Francisville Ferry connected Louisiana Highway 10 across the Mississippi River between New Roads and St. Francisville, Louisiana, United States[1]. The normal operating hours for the 35-car ferry were 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily[2].
Unlike its downriver counterparts—The Plaquemine, White Castle, and Reserve ferries—The New Roads-St. Francisville ferry was typically quite reliable and saw relatively few closures.[citation needed]
The ferry was shut down on May 5, 2011 as the John James Audubon Bridge was opened early due to concerns about rising flood waters. The bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America.[3]
