[edit] School history
St. Mary's School was founded in 1958 by Kelly and Fred Dolan, and opened its doors to the children of the parish on September 8, 1958, under the auspices of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters. Monsignor Francis N. Flaherty was the Pastor; and he, together with a most generous and supportive parish community, oversaw the building of the school structure.
In 1990, St. Mary of the Hills School added a full-day Kindergraten program to its existing program of Grades 1-8. In 1999, the first full-day Pre-Kindergarten for 4 year olds was added. Due to demand, a second was added the following year. The school now provides spiritual, academic, and social education for students in Pre-K through Grade 8 who live in Milton and surrounding areas. St. Mary of the Hills School maintains very high academic standards for its students; and its students continue to excel in secondary and higher education. Graduates of St. Mary of the Hills move on to some of the top Catholic High Schools in Eastern Massachusetts, as well as other academically-challenging public, independent, and charter schools.
