A standalone entity is something that has no dependencies; it can "stand alone". Standalone may also refer to the following topics:

  • game not bundled with console
  • a standalone installment in serial fiction is one that is unrelated or unnecessary to appreciate the main storyline
  • a standalone protein domain in molecular biology is a protein domain that exists as a single domain and as such is believed to perform a single function

  • a standalone solution in IT means that only a small group of employees have access to a software solution, not the entire organization. Stand-alone energy can be solar energy.
