Starr's Market, originally known as Oliver's Gourmet, was founded in 1979 as one of St. Louis' first gourmet coffee roasters.

[edit] History

In 1977, owner Bud Starr opened his first establishment, Oliver's Ice Cream. A local ice cream and sandwich shop in Clayton, Missouri. Starr was met with success, and decided to attempt an even bigger endeavor. In 1979, he opened Starr's Market and expanded into the wine market. It continued to grow, opening stores in Webster Groves and Richmond Heights throughout the 1980s. In 1991 Starr's Market moved to Richmond Heights, and continues its Wine and Coffee retail business at the same location today. Starrs is known for several of its signature creations including Starrs Blend Coffee, and Starrs Dip.

In 2007 Starr's Market opened its first restaurant. Opened at an attempt of a more gourmet dinning environment in the St. Louis scene, Starr's has received decent reviews. Many of Starrs signature dishes are credited to Starrs chef James Gill, and even Bud Starr himself.

In 2009 an upgraded restaurant was opened, Bar Oliver. Aiming at a more up beat environment Bar Oliver has been a success.
