State Road 878 (SR 878), named the Snapper Creek Expressway, is a short east–west electronic toll road south of Miami, Florida, United States, named for the adjoining Snapper Creek. It provides a spur from State Road 874 (Don Shula Expressway) east to U.S. Highway 1 (South Dixie Highway - SR 5), as well as local access in Kendall and South Miami. The road is maintained by MDX, with the full toll for SunPass users being $0.50 and $.80 on the toll-by-plate program.

[edit] Route description
The Expressway begins at an interchange with the Don Shula Expressway and a westbound exit with Kendall Drive, going east as a four lane expressway for its entire length, towards the first toll gantry of $.25 for SunPass users ($.40 for non SunPass users). The toll road then has its first interchange with Galloway Road, followed by the second toll gantry of $.25 ($.40 for non SunPass users). It then crosses over the Palmetto Expressway without an interchange and approaches an eastbound exit with SW 72nd Avenue before ending at US 1.[2][3]
[edit] History
Construction was funded in 1971, and after five years of delays, it was completed in 1980.[4][5]
The Expressway was converted to open road tolling on July 17, 2010, with all tolls collected electronically.[6] Prior to this, tolls were not collected on the Snapper Creek Expressway despite the use of a variation of the toll shield for many years prior.[when?][7]
