The Steelers–Titans rivalry dates back to the 1970s when the Steelers and Oilers played in the AFC Central. In 1979, Pittsburgh beat Houston. The Steelers and Oilers played each other twice a year. When the Oilers moved to Tennessee, Pittsburgh played Tennessee once a year.

Mike Renfro Catch[edit]

In the 1979 AFC Championship Game, Quarterback Dan Pastorini threw a pass to wide receiver Mike Renfro in the end zone. It was incomplete. It became a controversial call. The Steelers won and went to the Super Bowl.
