Steve Bannister (born 18 October 1987 in Billinge, Merseyside) is an English rugby league player.

Bannister plays for Avignon Bisons in the Elite One Championship and previously Halifax in the Co-Operative Championship.

Steve Bannister's position of choice is as a second row. He can also operate in the centres.

Bannister is an England age-group international. Bannister is a second-rower forward who has been compared to Great Britain international Lee Gilmour, with forceful running lines and a keen eye for a gap in the defensive line.

In November 2006, Steve Bannister was promoted to train with the St Helens first team squad. He made his first grade debut on August 19, 2006 against the Catalans Dragons.

Went to Newton-le-Willows Community High School, leaving in 2005. Was great friends with Ben Chesworth, Paul Smith, Lee Sherlock, Ross Chadwick and Mike Hall. They had many fun times in Music.

Bannister has played several games for Whitehaven on loan in 2007.

Bannister signed for London club Harlequins RL following the completion of his loan with the Cumbrian National League One side in June 2007.[1][2]
