Stephen J. Lipson is a musician (principally on guitar) and producer who has worked with numerous artists, including Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Cher, Grace Jones, Paul McCartney, Pet Shop Boys, Take That, Simple Minds, Lindisfarne, and Annie Lennox.[1]

Lipson started out as an engineer for The Rolling Stones, before becoming a protégé of Trevor Horn at ZTT. There, he worked as an engineer, producer, guitarist, keyboardist and bassist on various projects, including Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones (co-writing "Slave to the Rhythm"), Act, Betsy Cook and Propaganda.
In more recent years, he has produced artists including Juanes, Ronan Keating, Geri Halliwell, Daniel Bedingfield, Gareth Gates, Rachel Stevens, S Club 7 and Will Young. He produced two tracks for the 2007 American Idol winner Jordin Sparks' eponymous debut. He produced Jeff Beck's 2010 album Emotion & Commotion.
In 2006, he co-founded The Producers with Trevor Horn, Chris Braide and Lol Creme. The new Ultravox album announced in 2011 is going to be produced by Lipson.[2]
