Steve Rushton (born 30 October, 1987) is a British Solo Artist once a member of Pop punk band Son of Dork.

Biography

Rushton was born in Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, England. Rushton was introduced to the music world by his step father who used to get him up on stage from the young age of 7. Ever since then Rushton and his music have been inseparable.

Music History

Mr. Cheerful

From early school years and up to college, Steve Rushton was the writer, guitarist and singer for the band Mr. Cheerful. The band was heavily influenced by artists such as Elvis and Green Day. Their biggest brush with fame was their participation in the UK final for the 2003 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Rushton was unable to continue with Mr. Cheerful when he was scouted for UK pop punk band Son Of Dork.

Son Of Dork

Steve Rushton is former bassist and percussionist of the British pop punk band Son of Dork. The band had two top 10 hits in the United Kingdom. however in 2008 Rushton left the band stating, "I didn't pick up a guitar to leave it hanging on a wall gathering dust for two years".

Hollywood Records

Solo

In 2008, Steve embarked on a solo career and was signed by Hollywood Records, instantly moving to Los Angeles to create his debut album due to be released mid 2009. Steve had his first solo performance at Los Angeles Key Club on December 5, supporting Jordan Pruitt, the face of Kraft's Mac n Cheese.

His debut single Emergency was released on Radio Disney in March and is featured on the soundtrack to Disney movie Race to Witch Mountain. The single is available to download on iTunes and request on Radio Disney. The music video to Emergency can be viewed on Rushton's YouTube or MySpace pages.

Disney

In 2008, Steve became a member of the 'Disney Family', having his songs played all across the Disney Channel.

Hannah Montana: The Movie

Steve was asked to perform two of his hit songs "Game Over" and "Everything I Want" in the new Miley Cyrus movie, Hannah Montana: The Movie and both his songs feature on the soundtrack, released on March 24. Steve also accompanied Miley Cyrus throughout her song as Hannah Montana, "Let's Get Crazy". Rushton finished filming in July 2008 and the movie was released on April 10, 2009 in the United States.

The Suite Life On Deck

Steve is singing the theme song, "Livin' The Suite Life," to the Disney series The Suite Life On Deck, the follow-up to the hit series, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. The series aired in the United States on September 26, 2008.

Race To Witch Mountain

Rushton's song "Emergency" is featured on the Race to Witch Mountain soundtrack.

Personal life

Rushton is rumored to be dating pop singer and Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, having met on the set of Hannah Montana: The Movie in 3D.[1]
