SuperSport was a Scandinavian sports channel started by FilmNet which was owned by MultiChoice South Africa at the time. The channel showed Premier League, NHL, Formula 1 and many other sports. The channel closed on 1 July 1997. The SuperSport brand which started in South Africa is still prevalent in South Africa and across the African continent on the DStv satellite TV platform.
