[edit] History
Southwest Institute of Healing Arts founder, KC Miller, became a licensed massage therapist in 1988 and then taught for Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College for four years where she developed a system known as Myotherapy and CLUB Massage. KC was determined to invest in her vision to establish a holistic healing college and after freeing up her future, she opened the doors to the Southwest Institute of Myotherapy on September 15, 1992. KC purchased Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College in 2002 after learning that they were going out of business and Southwest Institute of Myotherapy was relocated into the Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College facility. Shortly after relocation, Southwest Institute of Myotherapy as was renamed Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. Able to accommodate a larger student population, Southwest Institute of Healing Arts added hundreds of continuing education classes, many diploma programs, and several Associate of Occupational Studies Degrees.
In 2003, Southwest Institute of Healing Arts gained accreditation with the Accrediting Council of Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) and was able to offer federal financial aid.[4]
