Sylvan Rodriguez
Sylvan Rodriguez (March 20, 1948, San Antonio, Texas - April 7, 2000, Houston, Texas) was a television news personality in Texas, United States.
In 1977, Rodriguez moved to Houston; 10 years later he left Houston's KTRK-TV for ABC News' West Coast Bureau in Los Angeles, but returned in 1988 when KHOU-TV hired Rodriguez.
After a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer, Rodriguez died at his home in Clear Lake in 2000, aged 52, survived by his three children and his widow, Texas politician and physician Shelley Sekula-Gibbs.
Sylvan Rodriguez was a founding member of the I Have a Dream Foundation.

The Sylvan Rodriguez Foundation was created for contributions made in his memory.
The Sylvan Rodriguez Elementary School in Houston was named after Rodriguez.
The Sylvan Rodriguez Scholarship Banquet was held in 2005 by the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals.
Dixie Friend Gay designed the central plaza for the 111-acre (0.45 km2) Sylvan Rodriguez Park in Clear Lake near Ellington Field.
