The Tokyo Metro 7000 series (東京地下鉄7000系 Tōkyō Chikatetsu 7000-kei?) is an electric multiple unit type operated by Tokyo Metro in Tokyo, Japan since 1974.

Sets operate on the Yūrakuchō and Fukutoshin lines, including inter-running services over the Tōbu Tōjō Line between Wakōshi Station and Kawagoeshi Station. Sets also operate over the Seibu Yūrakuchō and Seibu Ikebukuro lines between Kotake-Mukaihara Station and Hannō Station.

  • Control system of original: Chopper
  • Traction motor output: 150 kW (chopper control), 160 kW (6M4T IGBT-VVVF control), 165 kW (5M5T IGBT-VVVF control)
  • Gear ratio: 6.53 (98:15)
  • Headlights: Sealed beam
  • Destination indicators: 3-colour LED
    • Once used direction curtain.
  • Passenger information displays: 3-colour LED
    • Sets 7133 and 7134: 8 per car (since they built)
    • Many of 7101 to 7120: 4 per car (modified)
    • Some of 7101 to 7120 and 7121 to 7132: not fitted
  • Seating arrangement (intermediate cars): 3-7-7-7-3
    • Seats are all longitudinal bench seats.
  • Driver's cab: Two handles (no deadman system)
    • Each side has 4 doors

The first sets were introduced in 1974, with a total of 34 10-car sets built up until 1989.

  • In 1974, 19 5-car sets built.
  • In 1980, 1 5-car sets built.
  • In 1983, 6 10-car sets built and all sets converted to 10 cars.
    • Side windows changed to single-pane type (earlier cars had 2-pane windows).
    • Prepared for air conditioning.
    • Chopper control is improved.
  • In 1987, 1 10-car sets built.
  • In 1988, 5 10-car sets built.
    • Air-conditioning installed.
  • In 1989, 2 10-car sets built.
  • In 1989 to 1994, air-conditioning added to non-air-conditioned cars.
  • In 2006 or 2007, some cars of 7127 and other sets were scrapped.

[edit] Refurbishment

Type of refurbishment are C-refurbish (small scale) and B-refurbish (big scale). All of 2 step window cars () were executed B-refurbish and changed to 1 step window. Some sets of there refurbished middle additional cars () also refurbished and some sets are not. Middle additional cars of 7117 and 7120 are not completely refurbished.

Control system of sets 7101 to 7120 is updated. Many sets changed to IGBT-VVVF system. Number of motored cars reduced from 6 to 5 in some sets.

  • 7108 7111 7117: Use remained chopper system which were gathered by converting VVVF (from middle additional cars ()).

7000 series operated in Jakarta, Indonesia

10-car set 7117 was sold to Indonesia in March 2010[1], followed by sets 7121, 7122, and 7123 in April.[2]
