T. A. Pai Management Institute (popularly known by its acronym TAPMI) is a business school in India. It was established in 1980 and is located in the university town of Manipal, near the temple town of Udupi.

T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) was established in 1980 in Manipal by Late Shri. T. A. Pai to provide an impetus to the task of building professional management capability in the country and to achieve excellence in management education, research and practice.[1][2]

[edit] Campus

TAPMI has shifted its campus to a new premises in January 2009. It's new campus is spread over 42 acres (170,000 m2) and is situated about 5 km. from Manipal. The campus has a built up area of 2,50,000 sq. ft. and is Wi-Fi-enabled. The campus is equipped with air-conditioned classrooms and offices along with other facilities like knowledge centre, computer centre, student’s centre, hostels for men and women, residences for faculty and staff. The student’s centre is home to a canteen, a gym, a yoga and meditation room and a convenience store. The campus was formally inaugurated by Honorable President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil on December 9, 2010. [3][4]

[edit] Academic Programmes

[edit] Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGPM)

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management at TAPMI is a two year full-time residential programme. It is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation(NBA), India and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE). The course includes an eight-week summer project with a company (Management in Practice), after completion of the first year. CRISIL graded the program with A*** at National and Karnataka state level.[5][6]

[edit] Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Healthcare Management (PGDM-HCM)

TAPMI introduced this new program from the 2010 academic year. The program is modelled on similar lines to its flagship PGDM programme. It is aimed towards the Healthcare Management sector. The admission process for this course is different from the flagship PGDM program at TAPMI.[7]

[edit] eGovernance Program for Executives

TAPMI launched its eGovernance Program for Executives (eGPX) programme in collaboration with the National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), Hyderabad, on the 6th of April 2009. The eGPX program is offered as a one year, full-time, residential program and expects to achieve the candidates’ industry-readiness to take-on e- Governance projects in India and abroad upon successful completion of eGPX.[8]

[edit] Continuous Learning Programmes

TAPMI is actively involved with a number of business organisations to provide continuous learning and education to their executives. The programmes are composite and flexible and the time duration is based on the business organization's requirements. Executive Education Programmes(EEP), Faculty Development Programmes(FDP), Blues Ocean Strategy, EEP for SMEs(Small and Medium Enterprises) are some of the courses offered.[9]

The other programmes offered at TAPMI are the Fast Track Certificate Programs and Masters in European Studies & Management offered by Manipal University in association with TAPMI.[10][11]

[edit] Foreign Collaborations

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with Sheffield Hallam University, UK for student and faculty exchanges. The first student exchange under this MoU commenced during September–December 2009.

Taking another step towards nurturing future managers with a global mindset, TAPMI signed an MoA with Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Manila on November 12, 2010. This paves way for the institutes to work together on students and faculty exchange programs and also collaborative research projects. The other institutes with which AIM, Manila has exchange programs in India are IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and XLRI, Jamshedpur.

TAPMI signed MOU on academic collaboration with School of Management, Asian Institute of Technology(AIT), Bangkok on June 13, 2011. The MOU was signed by Dr. Simon George, Dean Academics of TAPMI on behalf of TAPMI and by the President Prof. Said Irandoust representing SOM- AIT. Dr. Sununta Siengthai, Acting Dean of SOM-AIT, was present during the signing. AIT is one of the top technical and Management University in South East Asia. This Academic collaboration between TAPMI and SOM-AIT, will lead to student and faculty exchanges, to start with. This will be followed by joint research and training collaboration of faculty, of both the institutions. [12]

TAPMI was ranked #47 by the Business Today 50 best business schools of 2011,[13] #43 by the Hindustan Times India's top 50 business schools of 2011[14] and #19 by the 2012 edition of CNBC-TV18's Top B-Schools in India.[15]
