[edit] Boca Juniors: 18 titles

Boca won recently the Recopa Sudamericana. Now, Boca and Milan have the same number of international titles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.49.121.227 (talk) 03:38, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

The ReCup and the SuperCup are shams. Don't group those sham cups with more important international cups. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.129.84.116 (talk) 12:32, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Milan is officially recognized as "The Most Sucessful Club in the World."

Costacurta wearing no 19 not 5!

And Giuseppe Meazza played for both, AC Milan & Inter!

Isn't the list of external links growing rather too long? This isn't some sort of an advertising space. --Aabha 15:33, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

No! Milan is one of the most important football clubs in the world. This article needs to be enhanced and expanded and then there will be capacity for even more links. --Kane december 05

[edit] Don't Add Rubbish Information! -Adri K.-

I saw someone added information that Buffon and Ibrahimovic (he wrote 'Ibraimovic') will join Milan. He added those two names at the bottom of 'In' list in transfer section. I've deleted it.

And then I saw the words 'Rossoneri' in first paragraph was changed into 'shevgarchenkos'. I've changed it into 'Rossoneri'. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Adri K. (talkcontribs) 02:08, 3 August 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Possible

Who the hell is behind the 'Possible' in transfer section...? The informations there is rubbish... that's just an extremely minor speculation which will not be fit in an encyclopedia. Adri K. 14:38, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree with you, many of that players are most likely impossible to come to AC Milan. --Tiago Heitor 21:32, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Famous Former Players

The list should be alphabatized by players' last names. The way it is set up now, they are listed by country, then alphabatized, but the way the countries are listed follows no rhyme or reason.~~Kane 7/10/06

[edit] Jose Altafini

Altafini played for both Brazil and Italy. I'm not sure with nationality placement in 'Famous Players' section, but both Edgar Davids and Clarence Seedorf have two flags, Holland and Suriname. --Adri K. 16:20, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Adri K.

The change their nationality. policy can borrow from List of nationality transfers in football. Matt86hk talk 07:53, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

No, that's not my point. What I was trying to ask is: Edgar Davids and Clarence Seedorf, both from Suriname. They have never played for Suriname, but they still have two flags. Jose Altafini played for both Brazil and Italy, but he only have one flag.

What I was trying to explain: could we add that Brazil flag so Altafini will also have two flags?Adri K. 03:52, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The game against Red Star Belgrade is on August 9 not 8.

[edit] Removed content

Someone (User:71.106.170.106 Talk) removed the section about supporter [2] . Should add back into the page? Matt86hk talk 07:53, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree with the removal; and seeing as how there is no "documentation" here as to why the removal was good, I'll forward the following: The content is very opinionated and lacks justification (i.e. citation from a respectable source). If the original author of that section thinks its significant enough to warrant inclusion, they should bring up some backing evidence. akuyumeTC 02:51, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
That's about football culture. Neither Inter or Milan fans denies about that, is part of their history. Now, what do you want? a table about the percentages of left wing fans in the team? How do you get documentation about that?... by the people who lived it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bauta (talkcontribs) 00:27, 3 November 2006 UTC.
Info about supporters were true (and can be verified on the Italian wikipedia). However, it would be better to add a supporters section like the ones of english clubs (e.g. Manchester Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea). – Luxic 16:56, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Supporters

I'm not exactly sure about the removal of that section because the information are quite relative. However everyone need to know about that, so the Supporters section must be restored.--Adri K. 16:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Whoa... innecesary information?. I'm sure the one who made that deletion has never put a foot on a stadium and it's a "TV fan". Every club page should have information about what the members of that club like or why they feel that on their teams. It's valuable information for the true football fan who likes to know about real and important history of the clubs, aside of wich famous player played there. The restore of that info is necessary for the football culture. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bauta (talkcontribs) 00:50, 18 October 2006 UTC.

It should be put back on because it's a important part about the club! without the fans sport would be nothing —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hajduk-9 (talkcontribs) 07:21, 5 November 2006.

Milan is not 3rd but 2nd in number of club supporters in Italy as erroneous stated in the main wikipedia Milan page

There's a big mistake guys!!! Everybody knows that the supporters of milan are the second of italy as quantity!

As written in a more recent article (august 2007) of La Repubblica, and as already written in an other article of Wikipedia (associazione calcio milan), the supporters of ac milan are more than the inter ones.

Here is what is written in the wikipedia article:

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Chicco82 (talkcontribs) 15:13, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Team Colours Wrong

The home shorts are black they are only usually white to prevent a kit clash (on derby day for example)

Milan didn't go the whole season 1991-92 without losing a match. They didn't lose in the League, but they lost in the Cup against Juventus. I just checked in the RSSSF Archive. 80.2.208.247 20:46, 9 April 2007 (UTC) Mark

[edit] Image added just after the final whistle of the Champions League Semi Final 2nd Leg

File:Kaka score.jpg
Kaka scored against Manchester United in their Champions League win in May 2007

I have removed this image from the article, and placed it in here for now. Partly because the image does not show Kaka actually scoring against Manchester United as stated in the comment. Also, the image was added not long after the final whistle, which seems rather quick to take a photo at the match and get it on here.♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 22:54, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Look at the similarity [3]. Curious, isn't it?!? --Angelo 00:31, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Nuvola apps important.svg

Image:AC Milan.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] A.C. Milan 2007-08 season

Help me update this, A.C. Milan 2007-08. I'm trying to make it look like Chelsea F.C. 2007-2008 and also change A.C. Milan 2006-07 to look like Chelsea F.C. 2007-2008, thanks! DP08 07:00, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Much better to keep it as it is. The Chelsea 2007-08 article is a kind of mess I would rather not to see here, and Wikipedia is not an almanac. --Angelo 20:33, 16 August 2007 (UTC) Ronaldo injury more serius then expectid. But surgery went just fine!!

[edit] Retired numbers

The "retired numbers" section appears twice. One of them should be deleted, in my opinion. I didn't proceed because it's a semi-protected and I wanted some consensous btw. What do you think?Nineko 01:11, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

It's been reviewed a long time ago following a request by a huge AC Milan fan, and unanimously rejected. This article has actually worsened with time following an improvement I made some time ago. You can use the Italian version (which is a featured article) to improve it. --Angelo 20:33, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] First team youth members

The players in the first team who came from the youth sqaud should be included in the squad list. --Muppeteer (talk) 20:49, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] grammar, plurality

This page has some grammatical problems. The most obvious one, to me, is the change in plurality of “AC Milan.” Personally, I would say the term is singular, but it is often given plural verbs. Maybe there’s an inconsistency with American/European spellings, but regardless it should at least be consistent. For example:

"Associazione Calcio Milan… is an Italian professional football club…. AC Milan have won 18 officially recognised international titles… The club have won what is today known as the UEFA Champions League on seven occasions… AC Milan is the second most successful club with 17 league titles; only Juventus have won more (27)."

I tried to fix this problem a few weeks ago but the article was reverted within the day, so obviously someone disagrees with me. Please explain yourself.Panda bearx (talk) 06:59, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Luca Antonini

Guys, I've added this myself as this is CONFIRMED. Luca Antonini is going back to Milan from loan from Empoli. I came back and there it is deleted. I kindly request YOU LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE I provided to back this claim.

http://www.goal.com/en-US/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=727810

Please keep his name listed under transfers because this is indeed confirmed! (My apologies for not signing this comment, I realized wasn't logged in)

[edit] Ignazio Abate is a midfielder

This is something that should be corrected. For a while he was a forward. I did edit this section making the change but someone keeps changing it back. He is considered a winger, a position on the midfield. You can even see this by going to his page. He's a winger that plays on the right... making him a midfielder... not a forward. I've heard Meelan and Mulan 77.99.186.110 (talk) 00:09, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

It depends on the language. In Italian and Spanish it's "Meelan", but in English it's a shorter "i" and a longer "a", like this: Milæn.- The Silver Raider 15:39, 20 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by TheSilverRaider (talkcontribs)

There is a bug in 'Managerial history':

The info shown there is obviously outdated. It says Filippo Inzaghi is the present top scorer in the team. However, Shevchenko returned to the team, and he has scored 173 goals during his previous years in Milan, making him once again the present top scorer squad member. Per lega-calcio.it, is loan contract. Matthew_hk tc 10:09, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

While that link points to the "serie a" website, I dont think that is good enough. Serie A is not Ac Milan. A single line that says "temperano" is not good enough. The contract details were left confidential so how can they say its on loan? Neither team has said it is a loan. Here are some articles off the official CHELSEA website. http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~1374701,00.html http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~1373689,00.html

There, you got two whole articles from one of clubs saying Sheva was TRANSFERRED. That should be a helluva lot better than your "temperano". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.229.89.45 (talk) 14:38, 5 February 2009 (UTC) 66.229.89.45 (talk) 14:41, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

That link is not "Serie A", is the Football League organization, the one that deals with transfers. If you want to complete a transfer, you must communicate this to the Italian Football League (Lega Calcio, in Italian language) - all you can see in that website is not just official, but is directly taken from the signed papers. --Angelo (talk) 14:58, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Should the grouping of Intercontinental Cups and Club World Cups be called world titles?

[edit] Latin Cup is perfectly "official"

Why is the Latin Cup called an "unofficial title"? The tournament was PREPARED by the 4 football federations of the countries involved, so I think that probes that It's "official" (and remember that only the champions of each league were able to compete, except if they resgined) . This tile was created before the UEFA itself, and it had a lot of popularity in that ages. It's true that it was neither organised by UEFA or FIFA, but it was by RFEF and the other latin federations. [edit] GA Review

This review is transcluded from Talk:A.C. Milan/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Reviewer: –– Jezhotwells (talk) 16:22, 3 April 2010 (UTC) I shall be reviewing this article against the Good Article criteria, following its nomination for Good Article status.

[edit] Checking against GA criteria

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
The article is not "reasonably well written."
In the lead alone, five sentences start with "The club", and there are a lot of other instances further down the page.
The UEFA Cup (Europa League) remains the only major competition for which the team are eligible to compete in that they have never won. could be phrased a lot better.
Milan was a founding member of the G-14 group and the European Club Association that was formed following the first organization's dissolution. Needs clarification - was the G-14 group the first organization?
The owner of the club is Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi while the vice-president is Adriano Galliani. The use of while here (and in other places in the article) is wrong. Simpler to just say "and".
In honor of its origins, the club has retained the English spelling of its city's name, instead of changing it to the Italian Milano, although it was forced to do so during the fascist regime. Clumsy, reword for clarity
In 1963, the club ensured its first continental title by beating Benfica in the final of the European Cup. Ensured? - better to use won or gained.
After the retirement of Gianni Rivera, Milan went into a period of decline, during which the club was involved in the 1980 Totonero scandal and relegated to Serie B as punishment, When did Rivera retire? Put the date in.
In 1986, entrepreneur Silvio Berlusconi acquired the club and immediately invested a lot of money in the team,[14] appointing rising coach Arrigo Sacchi at the helm of the rossoneri and signing a Dutch trio of Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten and Frank Rijkaard. You need to explain rossoneri - the term hasn't been introduced before.
Milan has had numerous presidents over the course of its history, some of which have been owners of the club while others have been honorary presidents. Here is a complete list of them. Whom, not which.
Below is a list of Milan coaches from 1900 until the present day Self referential, just say Milan coaches from 1900.
Paolo Maldini presently holds both records for number of total and Serie A appearances for Milan with 1000 games played in total and 600 in Serie A (as of 14 May 2007, not including playoff matches) should be presently holds the records for both total appearances and Serie A appearances...
The club holds the unique record of having gone a whole season without losing a game, during the 1991–92 season. - don't need to use the word season twice in the same sentence.
In total, that unbeaten streak lasted 58 games, starting with a 0–0 draw with Parma on 26 May 1991 and ironically ending with a 1–0 loss at home to Parma on 21 March 1993. Ironically, best leave that out, it is a weasel word.
Milan, along with Boca Juniors, has won the most FIFA recognized international club titles in the world. A bit clumsy as it stands, either hyphenate Fifa-recognized, or rephrase.
Throughout the entire history of the club, it has been represented by the colors red and black. -- it has been represented by? Rephrase for sytle
Due to Milan's striped red and black shirts, the club has gained the nickname rossoneri - ah the explanation at last, see note about this above.
The third strip changes yearly and is black with red trim for the current season, but it is rarely used. -- current season is a term that can become dated.
For many years, Milan's badge was simply the Flag of Milan, which was originally the flag of Saint Ambrose. Another nickname derived from the club's colors is the Devil. Complete non-sequitur, first sentence about badge, second is about a nickname.
Currently, the badge represents the club colors and the flag of the Comune di Milano, with the acronym ACM at the top and the foundation year (1899) at the bottom. -- Currently again. Better to say when this was introduced.
The team's current stadium is - current
The stadium is renowned for its fantastic atmosphere due to the closeness of the stands to the pitch. Who says it is fantastic - weasel word.
The frequent use of flares by supporters contributes to the atmosphere but the practice has occasionally caused problems. I can imagine that problems would be caused but they need spelling out (and citing)
He said that Milan's new stadium will be largely based on the Veltins-Arena and will follow the standards of football stadiums in the United States, Germany and Spain. It will likely be a stadium for football purposes only (with no athletics track). The new stadium is supposed to be named after a sponsor. Very clumsy phrasing here.
Milan is one of the most supported football clubs in Italy, according to research conducted by Italian newspaper La Repubblica Better to say something like "one of the best supported"
Genoa fans consider Milan a hated rival after Genoa fan, Vincenzo Spagnolo was tragically stabbed to death by a Milan supporter in January 1995. Indeed this was tragic, but tragic is a weasel word, conveying a point of view.
Currently, the club is also ranked as the sixth richest football club in the world by Forbes magazine, making it the richest in Italian football. Currently again, better to say "as of 2010" or whatever.
Previous to this deal, - just use "Previously,"
Overall: The examples above are the worst instances of bad prose, but the whole article could do with a thorough copy-edit. Consider asking for help from the WP:Guild of Copyeditors
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
Citation needed tag in History section needs addressing.
I fixed three and tagged four dead links using WP:CHECKLINKS
    Ref #48 [5] is a personal home page, not a WP:RS
    Ref #49 [6] - SportsPundit is a kind of wiki, not a WP:RS
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
The first paragraph of the History section says that the club was founded as a cricket club, but no mention is made of when they started playing football.
Does the club put out teams for other sports? many European clubs do. How about reserves, training facilities, youth teams - surely they are part of the club and should be covered?
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
It remains to be seen if this plan will proceed or if this is just a ploy to force the owners (Comune di Milano) to sell the stadium to Milan for a nominal fee so as to proceed with extensive renovations. The possibility of Internazionale vacating San Siro may affect proceedings. Says who? This looks like a POV to me.
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
    Page is protected from vandalism
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
Well, there are a lot of things to be addressed. If these cannot be fixed in seven days I shall not be listing the article. If that happens you can get on with fixing things up and then renominate at WP:GAN. On hold until 10 April. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 17:56, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
No response has been made here, no edits made to address these problems. I am minded to fail the nomination. The Nominator has not edited Wikipedia since 8 March, so I will not be listing at this time. As the nominations list is relatively short now, there should be no problem in getting a review if the nominator reappears and addresses these problems. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 12:28, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Edit request from 79.44.70.166, 17 May 2010

{{editsemiprotected}} "Domestically, Milan has won 17 league titles, making the club the joint second most successful in Serie A. The club shares the position with local rivals, Internazionale, while Juventus holds the record for most league titles with 27 titles won.[9]"

It's wrong, on 16 may 2010 Internazionale won its 18th league title, making a.c. milan the THIRD most successful side in italy. Please correct.

Official: Milan’s Di Gennaro & Legati join Padova

CLACIO PADOVA have signed two Milan players.

AC Milan have offloaded Davide Di Gennaro and Elia Legati, as confirmed by an official statement on Padova’s official website.

Legati, 24-year-old defender arrived from Crotone this summer to Milan but they have decided to send him away, while Di Gennaro, 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been on loan at Livorno from Milan last season.

[edit] Kits

I admit the irony of this comment, given that I came to this article with the intention of shamelessly ripping off your home kit to pass for our new away kit. But I believe that your kits may be copyvio, and if so they will need to be replaced. Regards, --WFC-- 15:06, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Beckham Still plays for AC Milan

Hey guys i saw that David Beckham isnt on the list anymore, might wanna add him back as he is still playing for AC Milan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MiniDude (talkcontribs) 11:35, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

No, he isn't. See here. Luxic (talk) 12:01, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, i thought he signed for another Loan session, meaning he plays for Los Angeles Galaxy. But because their league ends earlier than the Italian league he would go to AC Milan to continue playing football there, while La Galaxy still being his main Club. Kinda a weird contract but i think thats how it is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MiniDude (talkcontribs) 23:35, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Actually the deal was the opposite, Beckham plays for the LA Galaxy. He had another loan deal starting on January 1, 2010 to play for AC Milan. While obviously, his stint in Milan was unofficially cut short because of his injury, it technically ended on June 30 and he is now back with his main team, Los Angeles. --Volcanopele (talk) 02:48, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
I think he's also said he's not going back recently? Presumably since getting into the England team is no longer likely. Bertcocaine (talk) 09:59, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Stadium Name

In this article, the stadium is referred to as 'San Siro'. The Inter Milan page has 'Stadio Giuseppe Meazza'. Surely the two should be the same? Bertcocaine (talk) 10:00, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

I've concluded they should be the same, and amended both to include the official name, the common use name, and the city. Bertcocaine (talk) 13:00, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
There's no need to include both names. San Siro, Milan is enough. Luxic (talk) 18:41, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Emanuelson

Urby Emanuelson has just been added as a Current squad member, but he is not one yet. Under the current deal between Ajax and AC Milan, Emanuelson will only move during the summer transfer window. There is no agreement (yet?) on him leaving Ajax right now. 83.84.195.88 (talk) 14:49, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I removed him. We need to wait an official announcement by the club. Until then, you can revert on sight. Luxic (talk) 15:04, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Edit request from Trafalgar1805, 16 July 2011

alessandro trabatoni (chiropractor) and the rest of the medical team he worked with have been replaced and no longer work for nor have ANY affiliation with ac milan.

Milan have changed their Medical staff and this is what they had to say on their official site ACMilan.com:

"A.C. Milan communicates that Dr Rodolfo Tavana is taking over as Chief Medical Officer on July 1. At the same time, the club thanks Dr Gianluca Melegati and his staff for the work done over the course of the season. Dr Melegati explained his departure with the following words: "Unfortunately, the numerous engagements prevent me and my staff, formed by Dr Maurizio Gevi and Dr Alessandro Trabattoni, from continuing our collaboration with A.C. Milan. We remain emotionally attached to club and to its exceptional personnel, along with whom we had the chance to contribute to the team's Serie A campaign that finished with A.C. Milan winning its 18th league title" In addition, Dr Tavana has already worked for Milan, from the beginning of the Berlusconi era and until 2003, as Club Doctor and Coordinator of the Medical Department. His return to the Rossoneri club has a special meaning.

[edit] Casciavit

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 19MAuRO87 (talkcontribs) 17:41, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Innanzitutto, siamo su Wikipedia inglese, perciò dovresti scrivere in inglese, cosicché tutti ti capiscano. [Translation: first of all, we are on the English Wikipedia, therefore you should write in English so that everyone understands you. That said, many of the things you wrote are incorrect. Who said that Milan supporters are mostly right-wing? I am a die hard Milan fan but I can assure you I don't agree with Berlusconi's policies and I would never dare to vote for him, regardless of how much success he got with Milan. Moreover, I don't think 'casciavit' is a derogatory term, since there's still someone using it with pride — see here, here or here.] Luxic (talk) 21:56, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox name

There is an edit war brewing over the "clubname" parameter in the infobox. One editor is putting in "Milan" while I keep putting in "AC Milan". According to the infobox's instructions here the "clubname" parameter is for "The commonly-used name of the club". So the question is, what is the commonly used name of the club? In English media (and this is an English language encyclopedia) the most commonly used name appears to be "AC Milan"/"A.C. Milan". I understand that in Italy and even other parts of the world the club is simply known as "Milan", but again, this is the English language Wikipedia not the Italian Wikipedia and therefore we should go with "AC Milan". Thoughts anyone? SQGibbon (talk) 19:41, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

I agree, in English the club is commonly known as A.C. Milan. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 21:32, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Like it was before and it has always been, the clubname "Milan" should be puton the right top of the page, the place for the short name of the clubs. Milan is not different from the other clubs, where it is written for example Real Madrid and not Real Madrid C.F., Manchester United and not Manchester United F.C., Arsenal and not F.C. Arsenal, Chelsea and not F.C. Chelsea, Bayern Munchen and not FC Bayern Munchen and so on...--Blocci (talk) 21:54, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

The instructions for the "clubname" parameter, which you can read here, is "The commonly-used name of the club" which says nothing about using the "short" name of the club. The most commonly used name in English media is AC Milan. "Real Madrid" is the most commonly used name in English media for "Real Madrid C.F."/"Real Madrid Club de Fútbol" which is why it's used in that article (and not because it's the shortened form). This is the same for the other examples you mentioned. So when it comes to commonly used names A.C. Milan is different than the other clubs you mentioned because that's how it is commonly referred to. SQGibbon (talk) 00:52, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
First, please stop changing the name before a consensus has been reached on this matter. Second, I agree with SQGibbon. Milan in fact is different from the other clubs you mentioned precisely because of the common use in English, which is AC Milan. There are clear instructions on the clubname parameter, and according to those, AC Milan or A.C. Milan should be used. Burakov (talk) 15:21, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

"A.C. Milan" is already use as the name of the page. Because the club is Italian and it is called "Milan" by the vaste majority of its fans, the name on the top of the infobox should be "Milan", like it ha always been.--82.55.210.22 (talk) 22:11, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Most articles have the name of the article as the name in the infobox, it's just how things work out and there's nothing wrong with that. Also, this is a general encyclopedia and not a wiki for football or AC Milan fans. As such we should use the name most used in English media even if that's not the same as what most fans use. We're here to serve the average person and not football fans. SQGibbon (talk) 20:51, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] This makes no sense...

As of 2010, Milan is the third most supported team in Italy,[11] and the seventh most supported team in Europe, ahead of any other Italian team

Clearly that makes no sense... 86.173.237.214 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:34, 4 December 2011 (UTC).

Let's suppose Team A has 12 million supporters in Italy and 25 million in the whole Europe, while Team B has 10 million in Italy and 30 million in Europe. It would mean that Team B is more supported than Team A in Europe, despite being less supported in Italy. So, it does make sense. Luxic (talk) 21:57, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
