Etymology missing

Can somebody tell me what is the etymology or origin of the word "Agartala"? Chiinnei (talk) 19:20, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Pronunciation

I'm confused as to why the recording of the pronunciation of the city's name is in a Hindi accent. Given Wikipedia's guidelines, the pronunciation given in the first line should either be the English pronunciation or the pronunciation in the native language. I'm not an expert on Tripura, but my guess is that the name of Agartala is Bengali, and I would expect that the recording should reflect either the English or the Bengali name of the city. --SameerKhan (talk) 08:59, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes the present pronunciation has a Hindi accent (it was done by Srikeit, a native Hindi speaker). I don't have a mic now. Will upload the Bengali pronunciation later, and replace this one.
