I have tried to turn this into a POV-free page explaining three different Basque Countries (=Pais Vasco=Pays Basque). The talk pages of all these pages are still confused after a series of coarse moves and redirects. Mtiedemann 15:25, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Euskal Herria

Pardon, je ne parle pas très bien anglais. Je crois qu'on ne doit pas écrire Euskal Herría, parce que c'est le nom avec qui appelle les nationalistes basques au Pay Basque Franças, Espagnol et Navarra

This is a good point, why does this article refer to the Basque regions as being part of Euskal Herria, the individual country that Basque nationalists hope to establish? Gtpod (talk) 19:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Because they are parts of Euskal Herria, the historical Basque Country. Húsönd 19:54, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Euskal Herria is a historical self-given popular toponym that means Basque Country. It pre-dates Basque nationalism. You may refer to the neologism Euskadi possibly. The term Euskal Herria was even used by Francoists (at least that's what some of them have told me) - of course they used it only as a pretext to denigrate the aranism Euzkadi (modernly spelled Euskadi but still a neologism), that has no such deeply ingrained historical basis. --Sugaar (talk) 16:38, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Added 'Navarre' because of the Basque diaspora original from there.

I thought it was fair to add Navarre to the list, since much of the Basque diaspora of the USA have their roots there. —- Biscay 11:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Oops, I missed a couple of links -- those on Basque nationalism and Kingdom of Navarre, so I re-editted. — Biscay 11:20, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
