Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) |
| These questions arise frequently on the talk page concerning Bill Gates.
To view an explanation to the answer, click the [show] link to the right of the question.
Q1: Should the post-nominal "KBE" appear after Gates's name in the introduction? (No.)
A1: No. According to the Manual of Style, post-nominals should be omitted unless the article subject is closely associated with the issuing country. Gates's honorary knighthood is mentioned along with honors from several other countries in the "Recognition" section.
Q2: Is the article too favorable toward Gates? (Be more specific.)
A2: This article is about Bill Gates as a person, not Microsoft as a company. There is a whole article, Criticism of Microsoft, dealing with the latter. If you believe the article is too favorable to Gates as a person, please be specific about what the article says or does not say.

[edit] Indian Institute of Technology Golden Jubile celebration speech in San Jose
The IIT bit is completely out of place. The entire sentence is dedicated to honorary degrees but someone decided to add that Bill Gates delivered a speech to IIT alumni/alumnae in San Jose. What has this got to do with honorary degrees? Bill Gates never got a degree from IIT. The IIT bit should be removed because Bill Gates gives a gazillion speeches all over the world and every little thing like that should not be on the Wikipedia. --70.76.68.118 (talk) 07:35, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

- Totally agree. Wonder why admins don't do anything about it. Bill Gates does not have an honorary degree from IIT.--70.64.86.187 (talk) 05:58, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
[edit] bill gates died
did wiki say that bill gates died oct. 10 and they just removed it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zegrin (talk • contribs) 23:12, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- As far as I know, that date of death was probably vandalism. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 00:49, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Please remove porn link
Can someone with an account please remove the link in the References section that points to a porn site?
The offending link is to "Bralyn", a site which no longer appears to exist.

- If it doesn't exist how do you know its a porn link?--Harizotoh9 (talk) 16:32, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
-
- Because a porn site scooped up the abandoned domain name. I found another site with the memo; I'll fix it now. Indeed123 (talk) 19:24, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
