[edit] Milky white?
"The name is biblical, meaning ‘milky white’, and refers to the snow-covered cedars of the Lebanon Mountains." I can't seem to find any justification for this unsourced comment, at least not from anywhere that's not a mirror of the Wikipedia site. From what feeble research I can do, it seems that "ﺑﺸﺮﻱ" actually means something closer to "philanthropic". Can anyone else either confirm or refute this with a good source? - After further research, it appears this comment is in reference not to the name Bsharri, but to Lebanon, which comes from the Aramaic word for "white". Since it is mentioned already in both the Lebanon and Mount Lebanon articles, I've removed the sentence from this article. Keldan 20:48, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Date of Maronite village
On an unrelated topic, the page on Gibran Khalil Gibran suggests - to my considerable suprise when I saw it - that Bcharre only became a Maronite village in the second half of the C19. Can anyone provide any source to this effect or to the contrary? Palmiro | Talk 17:59, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bsharri-Sannine Zenith-Olympics?
Bsharri is a possible candidate city for the 2018 Winter Olympics. The Lebanese government is currently debating whether to spend the $1.2 billion from the Sannine Zenith project to build an Olympic Stadium in Bsharri, or in Beirut for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
They should spend the money.Bsharri is a fine example of the orginal inhabtiants lifestyle of lebanon.
[edit] Town
Bcharré's got about 30,000 inhabitants. Maybe one should mention this fact; at least, we can't call it a "village". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.52.139.139 (talk) 11:43, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
A census was done of registered voters from Bsharri in Australia , Canada and the USA.Registered voters on the village of Bsharri in theses 3 Countries added up to 37000 People (Citzenships)Not counting the people that Physcialy reside in the Town all Year around.
[edit] Population
Population 70000 sounds very unrealistic, its a small town and the Bsharri District (as I understand, almost the all Valley) have 67000.--Ankara (talk) 09:46, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
The last elections bsharri district recorded 67000 thosand votes. The voting age is above 21 and it is speculated that only 40% of the registered voters voted.Do the maths.
There is easily 70000 Residents of the Town Bsharri. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.225.67.87 (talk) 22:05, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
