[edit] Upcoming acting roles?
I have heard from several people that Celine has been given the role to play Mariah Callas is a movie. She has stated before that this is her dream. Even if she doesn't have the role, do you think we could add that she would like to play the role in like a future projects area? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.55.170.113 (talk) 22:24, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Céline Dion spelling?
The move log says that Celine Dion has been moved to Céline Dion six times. Why does it keep getting moved back?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:09, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- WP:COMMONAME, since most people cannot type the accent é, as well as many sources including Dion herself, it has been kept as that. (See above). Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 03:16, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- As long as we don't have a clear (official) statement/fact source about whether she is called Celine Dion or Céline Dion (what does the official biographies say? tax receipts/driver's licence etc?), this will probably continue. The current ambiguity is less than satisfying. And does anyone have an idea of a wording that could be put into the article (an article change that won't be reverted due to lack of references or the like – see above)? Many TIA.--Paracel63 (talk) 11:15, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
- Move wars over special characters in articles raged for several years. Fights have broken out over Istanbul (proudly showcased in WP:LAME, Elián González (oh, looks like it has the special characters again), Quang Duc, Ngo Diem, and Guantánamo. There's probably a lot more examples, but those are just the classic ones. hbdragon88 (talk) 21:57, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
- That's what redirects are for. It doesn't matter if people can't type the é. Just call the article "Céline Dion", and have a redirect at "Celine Dion" which points to it. That catches all the people typing it without the é. 109.145.141.207 (talk) 17:08, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Redirects only work within Wikipedia - in others words a Google search would not find the article because of spelling. Moxy (talk) 18:46, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

- Moxy, sorry but you're completely wrong, at least if you ask my computer. :) With the accent, it's third[1] (on my computer) and without the accent[2] it's fifth. So, IMO, we have nothing to worry about Wikipedia's visibility, and we can write it correctly. -- Frous (talk) 02:56, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- Or is the Google case different in different countries? -- Frous (talk) 02:58, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- The main point is that she uses "Celine" in her English language works, so we use the Anglicized name. BTW, Japanese Google shows third for "Céline" and fifth for "Celine", but second on both searches is www.celinedion.com, her official site, where she spells it "Celine".—Kww(talk) 03:23, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Here There & Everywhere
Where (in this article or one of the discographies) is it appropriate to mention her cover version of the Beatles' song, "Here, There and Everywhere", from George Martin's 1998 album, In My Life? GoingBatty (talk) 02:37, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Voice section
A lot of false sources in this section:
According to various sources, Dion possesses a five-octave vocal range.[204][205][206][207] Regarding the power of Dion's voice, Regine Crespin states, "The volume as such is thin, but thanks to her perfect mastery of the nasal backing, her voice acquires an incisive and penetrating timbre, with a great harmonic richness."[208] Dion states she is a mezzo-soprano,[209] while Regine Crespin and André Tubeuf state she is probably a lyric soprano.[208] However, attempts to adopt classical voice types to other forms of singing has been met with controversy.[210] Without making a classification, maestro Kent Nagano remarked, "All you just sang was soprano," after Dion auditioned with two solos of Carmen, wanting to know if she could sing opera.[209] Her timbre has been described as "fresh,"[208] as well as "thin, slightly nasal, nearly vibratoless,"[211] with a "raspy" lower register and "bell glass-like high notes."[212] According to French soprano, Regine Crespin, Dion's voice is "comparable to oboe, because of its nasal and fruity timbre and it is mordant in high notes."[208] Crespin is also circumspect about Dion's highest notes, stating, "She doesn't have a head voice," further remarking, "she uses falsetto," which is "disconnected to the normal voice body."[208]
The source for this section is Bel Canto: A history of vocal pedagogy, a book that has NO mention of Celine Dion: http://books.google.com/books?id=rVFQdViY7jAC&printsec=frontcover&dq=Bel+Canto:+A+history+of+vocal+pedagogy.&cd=1#v=onepage&q=celine%20dion&f=false — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.19.122.203 (talk) 19:26, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
