[edit] Opening comment

Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

[edit] Commission history

Anyone able to add some history about the commission. Given the notable actions of the commission this section could merit its own wiki page one day.

[edit] CCRFCD

Recent edits by 69.224.41.92 added back in several more notable storms. I think that in the various discussions about the valley the concensus was to not start listing every storm in these articles. Am I correct in that position? In any case, I'm wondering if the CCRFCD is now large enough to be an article. Vegaswikian 17:58, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] demographics

Isn't this data automatically updated? I'm asking since an anon user just changed the data. Vegaswikian 05:20, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Transportation Category

You know vegaswiki? You're absolutely right! I've done approximately 35 edits to counties in Arizona, California and Nevada, trying to add highway data for travelers and road enthusiasts, but it never occured to me that it should be under transpo! Good looking out, looks like I have some more work to do... Edit Centric 22:47, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

MESSAGE FOR VEGASWIKIAN - Please check out the realignment on the Madera County article, I have placed Cities and Townships, as well as Adjacent Counties under Geography, as they fit better under that header, and have, upon your input, created a separate Transportation Infrastructure sub-section. I'd like to realign all the counties this way, looks nice, and reads better. What do you think? Edit Centric 01:53, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

VEGAS - I know your "by your leave" isn't required for that, but I'm always interested in others' input, as a second set of eyes is always beneficial to any article :-) Edit Centric 03:00, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] official name

I removed the bit about the official name being "Las Vegas Township", since that's only the official name for judicial purposes and nothing else. --71.53.160.29 08:40, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Clark County Fair and Rodeo

is an article that has been proposed for deletion (PROD expires tomorrow). I'm not contesting it, but I wondered whether the substantial content should find a place in this article and/or in Logandale, Nevada (see Dilbeek#Events for one model of how it might be done). The only substantial content of the article was:

Clark County, Nevada holds their annual Clark County Fair and Rodeo in Logandale, Nevada next to Grant M. Bowler Elementary School. It is usually held in early to mid April every year, bringing thousands of people to the small, peaceful town. Logandale Nevada is located in Moapa Valley along with Moapa Town, and Overton. The 2008 year will be its 21st anniversary.(Official web site)

  • I did some quick fixes to the article including a reference. It needs more. This should be a standalone article since it is a significant event and attraction. It fits into quite a few categories that would not be appropriate for the town article. It also appears to be a stop on the PBR tour. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] How to cite?

I added the following text to the "Government" section, specifically the paragraph about the County Commission:

the elections are only formally "non-partisan", as both sitting commissioners, as well as candidates' party affiliations, are routinely identified by Nevada citizens and local media.

Anyone who's ever watched a local newscast or read Clark County's one daily newspaper (The Las Vegas Review Journal), has seen/read this. (The situation is the same in my former hometown of San Diego where the mayor's and city councilmembers' office(s) is supposed to be non-partisan, but clearly aren't.)

Not sure exactly how to cite this? PainMan (talk) 04:33, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure of the question. The county commission is a partisan position. Take a look here for the primary results by party. Judges are non partisan positions. And you have two local papers, Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Sun. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:05, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
