Talk:Common Era calendar
[edit] Email link
I deleted the Email link for several reasons:
- It simply quotes the other external link already provided.
- An email is not an appropriate source, unless the sender is a recognized authority.
- There is no indication the sender has any authoritative status.
- The link was in footnote format, considered poor style (here) in an external links section.

[edit] Redirect
I am redirecting this page to Common Era because the contents are wrong. Any correct information is best presented on Common Era because only the labels for the years are discussed, not any days or months, hence it is not a true calendar.
The cited web page has distorted information. The author, Peter Meyer, has erroneously co-opted the name "Common Era Calendar" for astronomical year numbering: -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, … But "Common Era" as used by historians does not contain any year zero! Such historians label positive years "CE" and earlier years "BCE", yet Meyer does not even mention either of these labels after his "short answer". Furthermore, historians almost never use negative years, and when they do, they do not include a year 0 between -1 and 1! See, for example, V. Grumel, La Chronologie (1958), page 30. — Joe Kress 01:33, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
