[edit] Dobunii

It is reasonably conjectured that this Hwiccan kingdom was the pre-Roman tribal area of the Celtic Dobunii. In 628 the Saxon Hwiccans were conquered by the Anglian, King Penda of Mercia, although the kingdom continued to be administered as a separate unit. Archaeological evidence, or rather lack of it, suggests sparse Saxon settlement and it is likely that the kingdom had a predominantly Celtic population. [1]

The quote above refers to the Dobunii. Is that a misprint or an alternative spelling? South Birmingham OK (talk) 18:42, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
