Chronology

The Tyson section does not need to bleed into 90 - 92. There is a whole section dedicated to their bouts. Give the article proper tense.

"He defeated Mike Tyson twice while Tyson was in his prime" .............What a load of rubbish! He did win the two bouts but lets be honest Tyson was not at his prime in 1997. Tyson had just done a long prison sentence and his personal life was a mess. Tyson was a thug and it’s hard to warm to him but saying he was at his prime as a boxer during the Holyfield fights is disrespectful. I believe Tyson’s prime was more like 1985-88 at a push.

I agree, on Tyson's second comeback he had fought Peter McNeely, Buster Mathis jnr, Frank Bruno and Bruce Seldon before fighting Holyfield. Hardly the prime of his career. Actually, the first fight with Lewis was a legit draw, but only because Lewis is a rather inactive fighter. There were 5 rounds where Lewis clearly dominated, and 3 rounds where Holyfield dominated. That left 4 rounds that were virtually even. If you give those rounds to Holyfield, then you have a draw. When you consider that Holyfield was the reigning champion, it is understandable that the judges would have wanted Lewis to come take the title from him. Incidentally, Holyfield did considerably better in the rematch, and could have expected a draw, but got the loss instead. Interesting. Although some respected observers felt that the fight was a draw, the majority of press and public sentiment was that Lewis had won the fight. Holyfield contracted Hepatitis A sometime before the third fight with bowe Can we get a picture of Evander Holyfield that's safe for work? At least one without visible genatalia? this brings up a few questions for me. there's naked pictures of evander floating around? how did you find these, and why were you looking for naked pics of evander?

Boxing career section too long

The "Boxing career" section is much too long. It should be divided into more specific categories of periods during his career instead of one behemoth of a section.

Trilogy with John Ruiz

The third fight with John Ruiz is completely wrong. Holyfield did not knock out John Ruiz in the 8th round. The fight went 12 rounds and was a draw. John Ruiz maintained the WBA belt since he was the champion. Evander did not win the belt, and did not knock out John Ruiz. Jamal7322002

Blatant vandalism

After clearing up the blatant vandalism by 157.157.105.106 (incorrect win/loss summary, awful grammar, falsehoods etc) the "Years as Heavyweight Champion" section was still a mess (it looked like paragraphs had been cut and pasted into the middle of other paragraphs making it near impossible to comprehend). I've cleaned it up as best as I can by taking the last un-vandalised version I could find, but perhaps someone with more knowledge of Holyfield should give this article a once-over to check for any more vandalism?

Removal of "Allegations of HGH/Steroid Abuse" section by 86.129.11.10

This section was removed today by 86.129.11.10 without a comment to say why. Was that necessary? It looked fairly neutral POV to me, just reporting the facts, and even references an ESPN story on it. Should this section be re-instated? Ivor Longfellow (talk) 17:35, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

CNN reports (11:40 AM, June 6, 2008) that Holyfield is facing foreclosure on the gigiantic 200 acres estate and huge mansion he owns in Fayette Co. Ga. Present supposed market value 11 million but reportedly cost $40 million to build. His accountant reports Holyfield is attempting a loan to stave off this foreclosure. Valuev loss investigation

This should be added.

Valuev's controversial victory over Holyfield on 20 December 2008 is being investigated by the World Boxing Association. It said, in a statement, "The Championship Committee have ordered a panel of judges to review the tape of the fight between Valuev and Holyfield." Perhaps this is immaterial.

I'd just like to point out that knockouts, as in the referee reaching the count of ten, are a rarity. And they are (rightfully) becoming even rarer. With concerns for safety, referees most often will stop a fight before a fighter is injured to the point where he is immobilised for ten seconds. A TKO is considered, for all intents and purposes, including a fighter's official record, to be a knockout. (The fighter is Technically Knocked Out.Mk5384 (talk) 01:50, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

The fact that a fight is to be a charity event is irrevelant. If it is an exhibition, it would not go on a fighter's record. In all other cases, it would.Mk5384 (talk) 06:04, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

5 Time Champion?

The claim that Mr. Holyfield has become a "5 times world champion" is highly dubious. The WBC, WBA, and IBF titles are universially regarded as "world championships". The WBO belt, is now considered by most to be a world championship. The WBF is widely unrecognised, and considered to be a "paper championship".Mk5384 (talk) 06:14, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Evander is a four time World Heavyweight Champion. Being the WBF Heavyweight champion does not make you a World Heavyweight Champion. It would only make him a World Heavyweight Champion if he held the Ring title with it, which he does not. Which is why Ricky Hatton was considered the World Light Welterweight champion when he held the IBO title, cause he had the Ring title with it.

To be considered a World Champion in Boxing, you have to hold either the WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, or Ring titles. Holding a WBF, IBA, WBU, IBC, and IBO on its own does not make you a World Champion. Dan the Man1983 (talk) 15:42, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Holyfield vs Holmes

I have removed the statement about Holyfield having the energy to fight for 3 minutes each round, whilst Holmes did not. It is opinion. Holmes had stated that part of his strategy was to use his experience to his advantage, and make Holyfield tire himself out. Whilst Holyfield won convincingly, the reasons for his being able to win, and Holmes' lack thereof, are opinion, and do not belong.Mk5384 (talk) 08:39, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

This is wrong: Currently a match in November 2010 in Copenhagen, Denmark against Brian Nielsen who is coming out of an 8-year retirement seems almost certain

Please can you remove the section on Evander Holyfield's page about his alleged steroid & hgh use as when you google his name it comes up in big blue letters. This allegation was not true as the orthorities agreed at the time & I know that he never used drugs.( I know this for a FACT). It was medication for his Father who did in the end pass away & when they realised this they took no further action. Also it was only the once his name was linked (The first one) & NOT a second in Sept 08. That was a seperate raid & no athletes were involved in that,it just happened to be the same day that the documents were realised to the media about the first allegation. Hopefully you can remove this from his page. Thank you in advance
