Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took pass this forest in the second volume of The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers. There they meet Gandalf again and travel to Helm's Deep with the Ents.
In "fact" they only met Gandalf in the film version (oh, I'm not typing all that out again, find it yourself). In the book they still thought he was dead until he turned up at Isengard after the Ents had trashed the joint.

According to the LOTR and standard usage, Forest is capitalized, so why is Fangorn Forest a redirect page to Fangorn forest and not the other way around? Clarityfiend 09:23, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Move back to Fangorn
The article about the forest was originally located under the simple "Fangorn" title, but already quite a long time ago it was relocated to "Fangorn forest". The reason for this, as far as I understand, is that Fangorn is also the Sindarin translation of Treebeard, and currently Fangorn is a redirect to Treebeard article. Yet the name is most commonly used about the forest; the Ent is referenced thus only once or twice within the LotR, and I suppose most people would expect to find an article about the forest under the "Fangorn" title. Maybe we can fix this article up by adding a map showing where Fangorn Forest is? The one on the Mordor page is good. I'm not that good at wiking so can someone do it for me? Norank (talk) 04:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

- Displaying maps of any regions of Middle-earth on any website that is not authorized to do so by the Tolkien Estate is illegal. Unfortunately the Tolkien Estate does not give such authorizations.
