"Pilipino" is not slang. It is the Filipino language spelling of the english language "Filipino". Confused? That's because there is no "F" in the past Filipino alphabet. "Pilipino" is widely used in Filipino language government speeches, official Filipino textbooks and publications.

[edit] Pilipino vs. Filipino
Philippines was named by Ruy Lopez de Villalobos "Filipinas"; "Philippines" was given by Americans upon territorial expansion. Letter "F" used to be missing in the original "Alpabetong Pilipino". And upon the Amendment of the Commonwealth Constitution, President Quezon added C, F, V, X, Z, to the revised "Alfabetong Filipino". Today, "Filipino" is accepted in english, and "Pilipino" if we are referring to the People in terms of our language. So don't fight over these two terms.
