I doubt the NPS banned people in the fountain because of insurance. The federal government is self-insured. As I recall, there was some controversy regarding depicting FDR in a wheelchair, I wonder if anyone could elaborate on that in the article, I don't even know if that is true. Thanks Jimaginator 16:11, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)

I suppose it's hard to talk about a memorial without being a bit too salutary (as Nohat said above), but I found the second half of this article to be a little saccharine and "un-neutral". It reads like a pamphlet handed out by the tour guides. While I hate to give a criticism without figuring out how to improve it myself, I'm hoping perhaps future editors might keep this thought in mind. --Volkris 01:59, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Waterfalls

A couple things-- the architect Lawrence Halprin just passed away today. Also about the waterfalls-- I was told by a project coordinator of the memorial that the waterfalls represented different geographic areas of the US, going from east to west. That is, the first waterfall is like Niagara Falls, the last representing northern California waterfalls (Yosemite?). The waterfalls' symbolism was widely reported when the memorial was new, and it gibes with the discussion in the article. What you were told is fascinating, but I'm skeptical: what would the tiered second waterfall represent in that context? If you can find a reliable source, great! Fala

In Fala's article on Wikipedia, it mentions that Fala is the only pet honored by being featured at a Presidential Memorial.
