This article had been tagged as a "Move to Wiktionary", but I disagree, so I reverted.
The "Metro" concept has gone round the world. According to something I read (sorry, a bit feeble, but I haven't a clue where), this was kicked off by Metro International, so London's Metro (as referenced in this article) is an imitation of that.
In addition, there have for many years (in the UK at least) been local freesheets.
The topic can clearly be made into an excellent article (maybe a featured one, if someone has some knowledge of this). --A bit iffy 22:27, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
