Tonypandy seems to be a town in Wales, from a google search. Since Thomas was Welsh, I suppose this makes sense. It's possibly the greatest name for a peerage ever, imho. john 05:33, 16 Jan 2004 (UTC)
It was the site of a famous coalminers' strike in about 1910, in which (from memory) strikers were shot by police. It's a name everyone in the Welsh labour movement would know. Adam 05:45, 16 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- Although it's pronounced "Ton-ee-pan-dee" so the "Tony-Pandy" I presume you're thinking of doesn't quite work. Timrollpickering 17:20, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)
