[edit] Untitled

I recently ran into a couple that was working on a new restaurant in Grant Park (near Peotone). Their names were Tim and Tammy Henderson. I?m writing to you because I found its history fascinating. I wrote down the name of the restaurant. It?s going to be called ?EL BANCO VIEJO?, which means ?The Old Bank?. It?s a bank from the 1800?s. They?re keeping as much of the original bank as they can. Tammy said that things like the original brickwork, the original ceiling and the bullet holes in the vault are staying. She said that she is trying to do as much research on the bank as possible, and would like to find out if possibly someone like Derringer may have put those bullets in the vault. I am having a hard time finding out, myself. Many outlaws and mob figures were in the area at that time. Is there any way to find out? This has really raised my curiosity. When the restaurant opens, they are going to have the waitresses wear bank teller uniforms and the bus boys wear police uniforms, both from the 1800?s. The food is going to be authentic Mexican food. The restaurant is at 101 Main St. in Grant Park (near Peotone ? not Chicago). I thought that maybe you would find this restaurant as fascinating as I did. Maybe you could find out about who may have or did put those bullet holes in that restaurant. It peaked my curiosity. I can?t wait to see it when it opens. I love the theme and to be honest, the bullet holes got my attention. Honestly, it?s nice to see that some people are interested in keeping history alive. Too many people want to tear down the beautiful old buildings to put up new ones. Why? For new ones with no history? The old buildings are not only beautiful, but interesting.

Thank you, Lori Mihelic
