Montreal 2010?

• I was at the first GnR concert in 18 years yesterday at Montreal (actually it was my first concert, too!), I think that it's a pretty big thing that Axl finally forgave my bretheren for what they have done back in '92 (I wasn't born back then) that it should be included in the Chinese Democracy tour section. • No offence but the first GnR concert in Montreal in xxxx amount of years isn't a big deal, the whole reason that the crowd rioted was Hetfield was severely burnt Metallica had to end the set, so GnR had to come on a little earlier, but if you know anything about GnR an hour late start is quite normal if at all early, because Axl said he had a sore throat they pulled the plug about 80 minutes into the set how pathetic is that...This was on the GnR / Metallica Stadium Tour where James was back up singing with his arm in a cast suffering 2nd and 3rd degree burns, still on stage (without his guitar) singing to fans, that is dedication. Meanwhile Axl is throwing multi million dollar backstage "Themed" partys which cost the band millions? Oh...you want citations? Not just any picture can be used. It has to be licensed by certain Creative Commons licenses. If you look on the left column on your screen, you'll see the "Upload file" link. Click on that and follow the instructions to upload an image. If you upload a copyrighted image, it will be deleted and you risk getting your account banned for infringement. Or go here and you can see which licenses are usable on Wikipedia; then you can hunt through Flickr for images you like and use them! As a side note, the current image was deleted, so I replaced it with the first picture I came across until someone replaces it with something better. – Kerαunoςcopia^◁_galaxies 10:28, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Recent Axl Rose Interview

in December 2009, i found tha Axl Rose did aninterview in Korea, and it was translated to English. It contained statements made by Rose about the tour, a reuinion with the origional members, and alittle insight on DJ Ashba. And someone took it down and put up an older (and now outdated) interview from last February! It should be changed back!!

Lineup

The discussion of the lineup in the intro is totally absurd:

The current lineup comprises lead vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarists Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and DJ Ashba, rhythm guitarist Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and synthesizer player Chris Pitman.

This is all we've got. Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, and so forth, do not even get a mention in the introduction (or the infobox). This is, not to put too fine a point on it, presentist nonsense. The lineup from 1987-1991 is just way more important to an encyclopedia reader than whatever anonymous session guys Axl Rose has assembled and decided to call "Guns N' Roses". I agree. Like it or not, GNR are most notable due to the Appetite/Illusion days. This article generally suffers from WP:RECENTISM. There was an article in Playboy about 2 years ago, on the cover it was announced 'hair, hollywood, and heroin: the rise of Guns n' Roses' and imho an excellent article about GNR's early days before they signed with Geffen, describing their early shows and the band's drug addiction. At one point Axl described how the bathrooms at the venues were so disgusting that rather than use them the band members would shit in a box and then throw it away. Are Guns N' Roses actually getting sued by the Mentors?

While browsing around on YouTube, I stumbled upon a demo of a unreleased Guns N' Roses song called "Cornshucker". Many people are saying that it is a ripoff of a Mentors song. I've listened to both bands versions, and they are completely different with a similar chorus. At first, I believed there was no legal trouble at all, until I searched the song on a search engine and found this. I think this is all just a joke, since they don't seem to sound very serious about the whole thing. But I need to know for sure if this is real or not. Dublin 2010

Two hours? The wikipedia Article says: "On 1 September 2010 in Dublin, the band were almost 2 hours late on stage." Why was this deleted ?

I recently added a piece on the bands show in Dublin, Ireland in the O2 Arena in which they walked off the stage after they had bottles thrown at them. This is the piece:

On 1st of September 2010, Guns 'n' Roses played at the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The group were scheduled to start playing at 21:45hrs, but instead did not arrive onstage until 22:26hrs, well over an hour after the support act Danko Jones finished playing at 21:00hrs. The band performed for 22 minutes, before Axl announced to the crowd that if they did not stop throwing missiles (plastic/glass bottles) then the band would "go home". He confirmed band's wish to perform stating "we want to stay...one more bottle and we go home". When the crowd did not stop, the group did in fact leave the stage. However, following negotiations with MCD promoter, the band returned to the stage at 23:20 hrs and performed their full set until 00:53 hrs. Promoters MCD says fans should not have been surprised by their tardiness, since there is a history, and have otherwise offered an apology. Even though many of the fans had left the arena after the group left the stage, the promoter MCD has ruled out any chance of refunds being issued because the band returned and finished their full set.

I added it to the 'Recognition and Criticism' section. It was subsequently deleted due to being un-encyclopedic. I feel that this is very important due to the fact that the group has a history of being late for shows and also for walking off stage during shows. The section 'Post Chinese Democracy'. Has many pieces about GNR walking off stage etc. so I was going to add this piece here. What To Do About All Those Riots?

About half of this article is about various riots which have broken out at GnR shows over the years. That seems like too much emphasis on the riots, even though most of the accounts have been cited. Behind the albums

I have wondered why the 1998 Use Your Illusion album and 1993's Civil War (EP) were released. There doesn't seem to be any sceheme behind them. Both the live and hits albums aren't so random because this helps expand the band to a younger audience and for those who would want to hear the band live, but both the 1998 album and the EP are a wonder? How GNR was named

Regarding this phrase: "The new band created its name by combining two of the group members' names." There are conflicting reports on whether GNR was named after two of the founding members (Tracii Guns and Axl Rose), or by combining the names of the two groups that were merged to create the original lineup (L.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose). The notes should point out that both theories exist.

Also, in this phrase: "which continued to be called Guns N' Roses even after the departure of Tracii Guns" it should be mentioned that none of the original band members from L.A. Guns were left in the group, not just Guns. Very Long Article

I've just bopped in here to look something up and I am astonished at the length of this article, mainly the section "The "New" Guns N' Roses, Chinese Democracy (2001-present) ". Is it necessary to document every single special concert appearance? Every bit of bad blood between the band members? Can it be broken down into smaller articles? Reduce detail? Subheadings? Pardon my bluntness, but this seems patently ridiculous. The history is the most important part of the article, and should account for something like 75% of the article's total content. If you feel the article is too long (which it isn't, particularly by FA standards), the history should be the last thing you think about splitting off. Lists of members, discographies, awards, and—as a last resort—influence are all things that can be spun off into separate articles. But the history? That is the article. Also, you didn't summarize anything when you performed the split, nor did you provide attribution to the source of the content in your edit summary. And most importantly, you didn't seek consensus for such a major change. Basically you performed a cut and paste move.
