Um...I understand that gnr released a punk rock cover album but...calling them punk rock is just offensive... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.150.10.236 (talk) 21:39, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Another thing: "Guns N' Roses have been credited with reviving the mainstream popularity of rock 'n' roll, at a time when popular music was dominated by dance music and pop metal" Reading this on this page is quite strange, because on the linked glam/pop metal page GNR is listed as a second wave glam metal band o0 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Burner0815 (talk • contribs) 22:18, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see how GNR being one popular genre (glam metal) precludes them from simultaneously popularizing another (rock n roll)? Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 22:38, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Montreal 2010?
- I was at the first GnR concert in 18 years yesterday at Montreal (actually it was my first concert, too!), I think that it's a pretty big thing that Axl finally forgave my bretheren for what they have done back in '92 (I wasn't born back then) that it should be included in the Chinese Democracy tour section. Touring with them currently are Sebastian Bach and Danko Jones. Wolinator-x —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.59.126.254 (talk) 00:31, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- No offence but the first GnR concert in Montreal in xxxx amount of years isn't a big deal, the whole reason that the crowd rioted was Hetfield was severely burnt Metallica had to end the set, so GnR had to come on a little earlier, but if you know anything about GnR an hour late start is quite normal if at all early, because Axl said he had a sore throat they pulled the plug about 80 minutes into the set how pathetic is that...This was on the GnR / Metallica Stadium Tour where James was back up singing with his arm in a cast suffering 2nd and 3rd degree burns, still on stage (without his guitar) singing to fans, that is dedication. Meanwhile Axl is throwing multi million dollar backstage "Themed" partys which cost the band millions? Oh...you want citations? [edit] Picture?
why back to the 2006 picture if the 2009 picture we were using had all the current members and looked damn cool? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocknroll47 (talk • contribs) 00:36, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
i think this pic would work for now http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/8050/axlfire1.jpg. i would put it in myself but sadly i dont know how. can someone do it for me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocknroll47 (talk • contribs) 18:54, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- Not just any picture can be used. It has to be licensed by certain Creative Commons licenses. If you look on the left column on your screen, you'll see the "Upload file" link. Click on that and follow the instructions to upload an image. If you upload a copyrighted image, it will be deleted and you risk getting your account banned for infringement. Or go here and you can see which licenses are usable on Wikipedia; then you can hunt through Flickr for images you like and use them! As a side note, the current image was deleted, so I replaced it with the first picture I came across until someone replaces it with something better. – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 10:28, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Recent Axl Rose Interview
in December 2009, i found tha Axl Rose did aninterview in Korea, and it was translated to English. It contained statements made by Rose about the tour, a reuinion with the origional members, and alittle insight on DJ Ashba. And someone took it down and put up an older (and now outdated) interview from last February! It should be changed back!!
[edit] First Picture
How can a picture be described as "The band performing in Hamilton 2010" when only two of the members are very faintly visible? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.69.189 (talk) 06:29, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Lineup
The discussion of the lineup in the intro is totally absurd:
- The current lineup comprises lead vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarists Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and DJ Ashba, rhythm guitarist Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and synthesizer player Chris Pitman.
This is all we've got. Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, and so forth, do not even get a mention in the introduction (or the infobox). This is, not to put too fine a point on it, presentist nonsense. The lineup from 1987-1991 is just way more important to an encyclopedia reader than whatever anonymous session guys Axl Rose has assembled and decided to call "Guns N' Roses". This is ridiculous. john k (talk) 14:14, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Like it or not, GNR are most notable due to the Appetite/Illusion days. This article generally suffers from WP:RECENTISM. Both in the lineup you mentioned being in the lead and the rather extensive description of their 2009/2010 tour which includes far too many trivial details. Ashmoo (talk) 10:15, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
--Halt 222 (talk) 18:33, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Your right I also think that the past line up page should be merged with the Guns N' Roses page

[edit] Follow Up
I have completed all I can with this copy edit. Tough article in some respects with the various styles and levels of writing and the constant vandalism attacks. I will continue to watch this article and help develop it further over time. Thanks. dtgriffith (talk) 05:06, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
There was an article in Playboy about 2 years ago, on the cover it was announced 'hair, hollywood, and heroin: the rise of Guns n' Roses' and imho an excellent article about GNR's early days before they signed with Geffen, describing their early shows and the band's drug addiction. At one point Axl described how the bathrooms at the venues were so disgusting that rather than use them the band members would shit in a box and then throw it away. I'll have to find the article to explain more. Dave 05:56, 20 June 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davesilvan (talk • contribs)
[edit] Are Guns N' Roses actually getting sued by the Mentors?
While browsing around on YouTube, I stumbled upon a demo of a unreleased Guns N' Roses song called "Cornshucker". Many people are saying that it is a ripoff of a Mentors song. I've listened to both bands versions, and they are completely different with a similar chorus. At first, I believed there was no legal trouble at all, until I searched the song on a search engine and found this. I think this is all just a joke, since they don't seem to sound very serious about the whole thing. But I need to know for sure if this is real or not. This is the only site where I have heard about this, no where else. And I sure as hell never heard Axl say anything about this. JimböV1 (talk) 19:22, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Dublin 2010
Something DEFINITELY has to be added about their gig in the o2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland on the 1st of September. Missiles being thrown at the stage and GNR eventually walking off the stage after 20 mins. Dylan (talk) 16:44, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
-
- Two hours? The wikipedia Article says: "On 1 September 2010 in Dublin, the band were almost 2 hours late on stage." But in the citation http://mcd.ie/home/fn.php?c=9096245&ar=gunsnroses&cat=all "[GNR] went on at 22.26hrs having been due to be on stage at 21.45hrs" So that is 41 minutes, not 2 hours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.253.154.194 (talk) 10:25, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Why was this deleted ?
I recently added a piece on the bands show in Dublin, Ireland in the O2 Arena in which they walked off the stage after they had bottles thrown at them. This is the piece:
On 1st of September 2010, Guns 'n' Roses played at the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The group were scheduled to start playing at 21:45hrs, but instead did not arrive onstage until 22:26hrs, well over an hour after the support act Danko Jones finished playing at 21:00hrs. The band performed for 22 minutes, before Axl announced to the crowd that if they did not stop throwing missiles (plastic/glass bottles) then the band would "go home". He confirmed band's wish to perform stating "we want to stay...one more bottle and we go home". [1] When the crowd did not stop, the group did in fact leave the stage. However, following negotiations with MCD promoter, the band returned to the stage at 23:20 hrs and performed their full set until 00:53 hrs. Promoters MCD says fans should not have been surprised by their tardiness, since there is a history, and have otherwise offered an apology. [2] Even though many of the fans had left the arena after the group left the stage, the promoter MCD has ruled out any chance of refunds being issued because the band returned and finished their full set. [3]
I added it to the 'Recognition and Criticism' section. It was subsequently deleted due to being un-encyclopedic. I feel that this is very important due to the fact that the group has a history of being late for shows and also for walking off stage during shows. The section 'Post Chinese Democracy'. Has many pieces about GNR walking off stage etc. so I was going to add this piece here. I now see that there is already a piece on the Dublin show, and was wondering if someone could tell me whether or not the current piece is better or if I should replace it with mine? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123dylan456 (talk • contribs) 16:16, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
[edit] What To Do About All Those Riots?
About half of this article is about various riots which have broken out at GnR shows over the years. That seems like too much emphasis on the riots, even though most of the accounts have been cited. I suggest creating a separate article just for the band's concert riots, with just a few highlights in the main article. Timothy Horrigan (talk) 03:00, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
On that note, the riverport riot has its own separate page, but the entire text in it is a copy of (or copied to) this page, shouldn't this page's version be an abstract or the riverport riot's own page be deleted? 69.166.47.145 (talk) 01:25, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Charting..
I saw on the Led Zeppelin page how "all Led Zeppelin studio albums of original material have been inside the top 10 US Billboard chart". Could we add here that no album of original material for GN'R has been outside the top.3 of the billboard charts? Appetite (No.1) GN'R Lies (No.2) Use your Illusion (No's 1 & 2) The Spaghetti Incident (No.3) Chinese Democracy (No.3) heck even Greatest Hits (no.2) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.237.136.167 (talk) 20:49, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- I just added a new table to the discography section of the article which shows the ranking on the Billboard charts which should be suitable enough. Although The Spaghetti Incident charted No. 4 on the charts, not No. 3 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.174.213.7 (talk) 00:17, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, well I guess not. My edit just got removed even though it wasn't adding anymore information than there already was on the site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.174.213.7 (talk) 06:57, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Behind the albums
I have wondered why the 1998 Use Your Illusion album and 1993's Civil War (EP) were released. There doesn't seem to be any sceheme behind them. Both the live and hits albums aren't so random because this helps expand the band to a younger audience and for those who would want to hear the band live, but both the 1998 album and the EP are a wonder? Can someone maybe tell me why these were released and then either you or me add these to the respective articles. 77.99.231.37 (talk) 18:10, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
I believe they were just issued to have something newish to sell during the years (or should I say "decades") when the band wasn't actually producing any new music. Timothy Horrigan (talk) 17:27, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- I suposse that seems more likely with the 1998 album but the EP is more of a wonder. They were releasing a lot of singles that year as well as an entire cover album. 77.99.231.37 (talk) 18:12, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

[edit] How GNR was named
Regarding this phrase: "The new band created its name by combining two of the group members' names." There are conflicting reports on whether GNR was named after two of the founding members (Tracii Guns and Axl Rose), or by combining the names of the two groups that were merged to create the original lineup (L.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose). The notes should point out that both theories exist.
Also, in this phrase: "which continued to be called Guns N' Roses even after the departure of Tracii Guns" it should be mentioned that none of the original band members from L.A. Guns were left in the group, not just Guns. Guns was gone, but so were Beich and Gardner. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.29.43.1 (talk) 19:29, 6 December 2010 (UTC) --Halt 222 (talk) 13:45, 5 November 2011 (UTC)well until Chinese Democracy you sill had slash and he was in L.A. I noticed that there was long hidden inline notice at the top of this article. Instead of using an inline notice where it not always seen, I adapted the notice to Template:Editnotices/Page/Guns N' Roses. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:57, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
[edit] MegaMan X5?
I'm just thinking someone should add something about the bosses in MegaMan X5 being named after band members somewhere in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.210.101.3 (talk) 06:29, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Best-selling debut album
Please don't change the information about that and get that clear. Yes, Appetite for Destruction is the best-selling debut album in the US, but worldwide it's still Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill, which has sold 33 million copies. — Cannot (talk) 16:57, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
but Jagged Little Pill is Alanis Morissette's 3rd album, which is clearly different to a debut album... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.20.201.105 (talk) 21:19, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Very Long Article
I've just bopped in here to look something up and I am astonished at the length of this article, mainly the section "The "New" Guns N' Roses, Chinese Democracy (2001-present) ". Is it necessary to document every single special concert appearance? Every bit of bad blood between the band members? Can it be broken down into smaller articles? Reduce detail? Subheadings? I haven't paid much attention to GNR in a while, don't want to step on any toes, could someone who's worked on this article do something to improve it? - Salamurai (talk) 08:15, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- I just made a very large edit removing much of the Tourcruft from the article. Still needs more editing and clean up though. Ridernyc (talk) 23:31, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Glam Metal?
Guns N' Roses isn't glam metal. They're only hard rock and heavy metal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.58.80.61 (talk • contribs) 18:30, 3 November 2011 (UTC) Heavy metal? No, they are quite certainly not a Heavy Metal band. "Welcome to the Jungle" is not a Heavy Metal song. [edit] Guns N' Roses or g'n'r
--Halt 222 (talk) 13:42, 5 November 2011 (UTC)for what I know the Guns N' Roses brake up did happen and Axel made a new band g'n'r because Guns N' Roses is a merge of la guns and Hollywood roses so its basically just Hollywood roses now.
[edit] Lead image
The current lead image isn't very effective; it's just fireworks and confetti. A cropped version of this image would be much better, but I can't really tell who's who beyond Axl and Fortus. All all these people in the band? Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 23:55, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
- From left to right it's Reed, Bumblefoot, Fortus, Rose, Ashba, Pitman (I think) and I don't know who the guy on the end is. Doesn't look like Frank Ferrer. =\ HrZ (talk) 12:51, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Splitting of "Guns N' Roses" article to "Guns N' Roses history"
I copied the "History" section of this page to Guns N' Roses history.--Jax 0677 (talk) 18:20, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- Pardon my bluntness, but this seems patently ridiculous. The history is the most important part of the article, and should account for something like 75% of the article's total content. If you feel the article is too long (which it isn't, particularly by FA standards), the history should be the last thing you think about splitting off. Lists of members, discographies, awards, and—as a last resort—influence are all things that can be spun off into separate articles. But the history? That is the article. Also, you didn't summarize anything when you performed the split, nor did you provide attribution to the source of the content in your edit summary. And most importantly, you didn't seek consensus for such a major change. Basically you performed a cut and paste move. Now this all needs to be undone manually. --IllaZilla (talk) 04:19, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

The Slash Tweet inappropriately has a sic reference when it should not. Slash signs all of his Tweets using an emoticon avatar [Iii|);'], intended to represent his signature hat, a wink, a smile, and a cigarette. The sic should be removed as he clearly wasn't misspelling a given word.
24.13.177.226 (talk) 06:17, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Not done Sic means 'it appears this way in the original', which frequently means misspelling, but is meant to highlight that we're paying attention, as should the reader. Dru of Id (talk) 06:46, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
