A news item involving Halliburton was featured on Wikipedia's main page in the In the news section on 18 December 2010. |
|
[edit] Gang Rape Victim
Why isn't the incident involving the gang rape of Jamie Leigh Jones, who was sent to Iraq to work for Halliburton, mentioned? http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=3977702&page=1 Galraedia (talk) 22:14, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Updated History Section
I propose some serious changes to the history section, particularly to the '2000s'. We all know Haliburton and their subsidiaries have had some serious controversies, but starting the 2000s section off with the opening of a completely different legal entity in Tehran isn't a great way to begin, is it? This should be moved to a separate controversies section entirely as its relevant but WP:Recentism appears to be a big player here. There is also far too much explanation in the historical section about subsidiaries or implications of illegal activity. All of this needs to be moved, possibly to an entirely new article regarding corporate crime or whatever, its drawing out the section into this tumorous mass of angst towards the company (well deserved or not).
Should no one respond in the next few days, I'll remove the items I feel are very testy and place them under the controversies section. Netsquall (talk) 06:34, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
[edit] OK... Seriously?
Halliburton FTW! The extent to which this article details Dick Cheney's involvement with Haliburton, and all that implies vis a vie recent history, is relegated to references to mentions in popular media? This is a mockery of what Wikipedia is supposed to be. Who is in charge here, anyway? The people who want to tell the _truth_, or the people who want to cover it up when it doesn't serve their interests? Impartial? I don't think this article is, by any stretch. This is an obvious cover-up and white-wash. That makes it a mockery of every revision that has ever been rescinded for partiality reasons on the whole of Wikipedia. Gee... I was going to contribute my annual $20 tonight, then I found this travesty. You know what? I don't think I'll contribute this year. My little, insignificant, protest against this sort of hypocrisy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.29.130.225 (talk) 05:04, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Baghdad incident
So, an "investigation revealed that troops did not abandon the civilians and they were all exiting the "kill zone" during the ambush". Isn't that the same thing? The national guardsmen exiting the killing zone in haste during the ambush - leaving the civilian drivers to be killed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.15.138 (talk) 08:06, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- You don't stay in a zone of fire during an ambush, you get out and you maneuver against the enemy forces perpetrating it, which is what they did. -173.166.45.177 (talk) 14:02, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Grammar
"a convoy of four Halliburton trucks was ambushed north of Baghdad."
How can I believe the author when I can't believe his grammar?
