THANKS to the anonymous user who expanded the article. Hey, why don't you register and contribute on a regular basis? We are VERY short-staffed in the Fijian department (only one regular contributor, plus a Fijian editor who corrects that contributor's errors, and a few occasional visitors), so I desperately hope you'll stay with us and lighten our workload! 'Key Attractions-Sites of Labasa - Vanua Levu .. Richard Raj'Labasa is one of the smaller towns in the Fiji Islands, however it is the biggest town in the island of Vanua Levu. Labasa is off the besten track form a tourist point of view but those who lived there know of a few places to visit and see.

[edit] Labasa Sangam High School Temple

This is located behind the Sangam High School, right in Labasa Town. It has some very good stone carved Hindu gods. The temple is open most hours of the day and evenning prayers and is a good place for meditation.

.....more to come

[edit] Naag Mandir (Temple)

15 to 20 minutes out of Labasa town going towards Nagigi (north), you fill find the Naag Patthar Mandir (or Snake Temple). There is a very large piece of stone that is shaped like the head of a King Cobra. The mystry about this place is that this stone thatis several meters high now has been growing since 1970's. 2 generations ago, it was amere size of a 1 to 2 meters. Local indians see this is a holy place and have built a temple around it.

this is a very spiritual area of worship where thousands of people come to pray every year... it is believed that the king of snakes- god cobra- dwells within a small cave just before the temple... no one has seen or has been in contact with the cobra, however people have made attempts to enter the cave with torches (fire)...according to the locals, it is believed that the gap of the cave gets to such an extent where u virtually have to 'slither' in order to enter.

In addition to this, the stones near the temple has also some miracle and that is the the indian gods images have begun to occur. people have started preying to those images and they believe that it is a good sign that gods images have begun to occur.
