[edit] Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters were never considered a supergroup whatsoever. They were always considered "Dave Grohl's new band" after Nirvana. Recommend removal from the list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.250.220.173 (talk) 20:00, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Audioslave

Should Audioslave be included on this list? The only "grunge" member is Chris Cornell.

I believe Class of '99 and Eyes Adrift also contain less than 50% grunge band members (I'm not positive though). However, I think all these groups are at least grunge-related enough to merit mention here.
At the same time, though, if Audioslave counts, I think Velvet Revolver might also, as both have the formula of "former grunge frontman combines with former members of non-grunge band".
In other words, I can't even find consensus among myself. I wish there were some other people here to offer an opinion... --SuperNova |T|C| 08:16, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Eh, STP was always borderline grunge, being an LA band. It's not great crime if they're left off the list.—thames 15:38, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Either Velvet Revolver should be on this list as well, or Audioslave should be left off, IMO. Millsy62 17:06, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Audioslave should definatly not be on the list, the article says: "During the 1990s", not "during 1990-2001" (Audioslave starting in 2000/1).Dark jedi requiem 23:53, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
So, both Audioslave and Velvet Revolver should be taken out then? Makes sense to me. If no words of dissent are added in a while, then I think it the page should be cleaned up. --LodeRunner 02:22, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Audioslave should be left in IMO, but Velvet Revolver removed, as Stone Temple Pilots were not a Grunge band (LA rather than Seattle). The strongest link to Grunge in Velvet Revolver is Duff McKagan, who was from Seattle and was good friends with many Grunge bands
Audioslave deserve a place, VR do not. Stone Temple Pilots were more a hard rock band than grunge, and only their first two albums could be considered grunge. However Scott Weiland hates grunge music. GNR were mainstream rock/glam rock so there's no 'grunge' there at all. Audioslave have a good claim to being a 'grunge' supergroup in that Chris is one of the figureheads of grunge, and while not technically grunge, RATM were peers of many grunge groups and their alternative rock style wasn't too far removed. Also rather than just taking into account their origins we should also consider their styles. Audioslave, with Chris at the fore, made music that could be considered grunge and performed in a 'grungey' way, with no showmanship, and emphasis on the music. Velvet Revolver are famous for Slash's top hat and hair, Scott's outfits, dancing and charisma, which are some things that just aren't grunge. Their music is more hard rock/classic rock than alternative or grunge, and while the same could be said for Audioslave's final album their first two have clear alternative roots. [edit] How About Spys4Darwin?

I recently wrote an article for Spys4Darwin. This group included Chris DeGarmo of Queensrÿche, Sean Kinney and Mike Inez of Alice in Chains, and Vin Dombroski of Sponge. They started in 2001 and recorded a 6-track EP. The band intended on recording a studio album in 2002 but never finished it. Cale (talk) 06:51, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] over half the groups listed aren't Grunge..

Audioslave is grunge because of what? Foo Fighters are grunge because? You people have half of these groups listed here because they had a list one member from an old grunge act. IMO only bands that are supergroups that actually play grunge should be listed. One of the primary things about a grunge supergroup is the fact that they actually play grunge. Of these groups listed only Mad seasons, Temple of the Dog, Hater (though it's not much of a supergroup), Alice MudGarden. and truly.

MACC Covered a Hendrix song and it would have to have been covered in grunge style to fit this category. Does anyone have a source?

Army of anyone was a hardrock outfit.

Velvet Revolver was a hard rock outfit.

Spys4darwin is mislabeled on it's wiki page as a grunge act though infact it is not because it doesn't do one of the primary things grunge groups do such as actually play grunge music. No WTO combo was a spoken word and hardcore punk act. Foo Fighters is a post-grunge act. post-grunge is a different genre than grunge. Pat smear should only be listed as a touring member of Nirvana. Eye's adrift never played any grunge songs and is listed as grunge only because one of it's members were in nirvana. class of 99 was alternative and progressive rock. audioslave never did any grunge songs.

Grunge acts whether supergroup or not actually play grunge music. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.15.191.119 (talk) 20:22, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Grunge super group.

Because someone joins a supergroup after being in a grunge band doesn't mean that the supergroup will be a grunge supergroup. To be a grunge supergroup those bands have to actually play grunge. Four bands listed can be called a grunge supergroup. They are both A) a grunge band and B) a supergroup. Only one of those groups I can say are infact a grunge supergroup. Many of the bands previously listed where either not a grunge band or not a supergroup.Serialjoepsycho (talk) 16:41, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Only two bands can be shown to be a grunge supergroup. This page is a waste of space.Serialjoepsycho (talk) 17:00, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
