Talk:Marshall Fritz

First, thank you to the good folks who have put up this Wikipedia entry about me. It came into my radar screen today, Jan. 25, 2006, while on a business trip to Dallas. I'm a little pressured this morning (Why pack now?? The flight isn't until noon. :-), but noted that I am first described as a California politician.

Well, I am indeed a Californian...third generation, to do a little boasting (confession?). But I've never heard anyone who knows me very well describe me as a politician. Even my one attempt at electoral politics (1982, U.S. congretional candidate for the Libertarian Party in Calif. district 18)was only to use the microphones and ink provided by the media at such times to educate folks about the principles of the good people in the libertarian movement.

I am deeply ashamed of one event in the campaign and have eschewed politics ever since. In fact, I treat every fantasy of running for office as a temptation and immediately (usually within a half-second or so) divert my mind into more wholesome subjects.

The incident to which I refer was on TV on the John Castle show where I "spun" an answer to a question. Like Pinnochio, I could feel my nose growing. A few months later I confessed this on the same show and corrected the false impression I had deliberately given during the campaign.

Those who know me at all in the Libertarian Party know that I don't even participate in the internal and infernal politicking in the L.P. I don't take sides in the various platform issues nor even express any preferences with the several candidates running for the presidential nomination.

My voting since 1984 has been either abstain, L.P, Constitution Party, and in one case, McClintock, Republican.

So..... here is my request: That somebody who is a practicing Wiki update the little bio about me to reflect this. You are welcome to use any or all of the above, or any paraphrasing of it you think appropriate. Somehow, it feels a bit unseemly for me to update the entry myself.

Thanks for helping out with the article! Wikipedia guidelines do encourage people with articles to participate on the talk pages; it's good to see that someone finds the option to be intuitively the right thing! So, I've changed the article to say "public figure" instead of "politician". Melchoir 18:54, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
