Talk:Mary I of Portugal
D. Maria should be called Mary I of Portugal, because she was born before the 19th century! Please change this because it looks very disrespectful and offensive to portuguese people.
- Is there a rule for not translating the names of monarchs born after the 19th century?Gameiro 02:25, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
Should the title of this page be called Maria I of Portugal instead of Mary I of Portugal? There is a page called Maria II of Portugal. Dawn22 02:30, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
Many sources (including this page) state that Maria I and Pedro III had six children. This page http://www.xs4all.nl/~kvenjb/madmonarchs/maria1/maria1_bio.htm states that they has seven. Which is it? Dawn22 07:28, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that it should be Maria and not Mary, if only for consistency. --OpenToppedBus - Talk to the driver 14:31, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
According to this website: http://www.4dw.net/royalark/Brazil/brazil2.htm , Maria I and Pedro III had a stilborn son, Dom João de Bragança, on 20th October 1762. Should he also be listed? Dawn22 19:40, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Holy cut and paste move, Batman! There was a cut and paste move of this page from Maria I of Portugal (which is, I think, the proper title - how on earth is it insulting to Portuguese people to refer to one of their monarchs by her Portuguese name??? She is normally called that in English, as far as I can tell.) on October 27, 2005! I have no idea how to correct this. john k 14:25, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
