[edit] Album sales

The following are references to estimates on overall sales: http://www.beautifulmadonna.com/charts/albumven.html = 15m, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Top-Biggest-Selling-Madonna-Albums/lm/37BXBHN8JKB68 = 13m, http://charts.mlvc.org/CHThist.php = 13m, http://www.world4madonna.com/charts/ = 14m, http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=41261&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 = 8.61m. Overall, in comparison, the first link is always over inflated to all the others. Best concensus is 13m

[edit] American Pie: single

Since American Pie is released as a single, and is available on all the copies of "Music" except on those sold in North-America, I think it is only fair to to say that this was her first single (a single that just happened to be not included on the North-American copies), not to mention technically correct. Wrong. "American Pie" was later included in the Music album as an album track. It was released as a single from The Next Best Thing soundtrack. Please see a similar consensus on the Britney song "Radar", which was included on both her albums blackout and Circus, but was actually released as a single from Circus. — Legolas (talk2me) 03:57, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't think you can compare these two examples, really. 'Radar' was a song on bóth albums. Later it was released as a single. Since that single is on both albums, but Britney was in her 'Circus-era, of course it counts as a single of 'Circus' instead of 'Blackout'. It's already on that album! So difference: on 'Blackout' it was a song, but on 'Circus' it turned out to be a single. In this case, the cd ('Music') had 'American Pie' included on its tracklist from the beginning of being sold (except in North-America), so it's not that they suddenly decided to rerelease the album with a new bonustrack (being 'American Pie'). There are even two videos; none showing footage from the film that was to be promoted. I reckon that if this song was included on the North-American editions as well, than it would be called a single of 'Music', no doubt about it (or at least a single of 'Music' ánd of the OST). You are essentially saying the same thing as me. A single, later being added to the tracklist of another album doesnot make it a single from that album. If Lady Gaga were to add her song "Poker Face" to her upcoming third album, that won't make it a single from that album. Its simple as that. This discussion is over. — Legolas (talk2me) 12:05, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
