[edit] Corrected NAVY FCU Text

I corrected some of thext on this entry. Credit unions are governed by the Board of Directors, not by the NCUA. The NCUA is a regulator and the charter authority. To state (as it was here) that the NCUA "governs" this (or any other) credit union, except in cases where the NCUA assumes control of a credit union that improperly operated is false, especially given NFCU key ratios. I also removed the POV statement on NFCU credit cards being set a low interest rate - while fact, it is also propaganda not relevent to the article. Stu 21:22, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] HQ Location

NFCU HQs is in fact located in Vienna, VA not Merrifield, VA. Note that a lot of mail addressed to NFCU for many things is addressed to Merrifield, VA, this is simply just a postal address and not the physical location of the building. --Androsyn 18:41, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Contradiction??

The history section says that Coast Guard personnel are not eligible to join Navy Federal, but the membership section says that all DoD employees are eligible.

Since the Coast Guard is part of the Department of the Navy in wartime, does the May 2008 expansion of the field of membership change things, and make active Coast Guard personnel eligible?

You can find NFCU's membership charter here. They don't include CG by default, but they do include it if you're assigned to a DoD installation. --Bachrach44 (talk) 01:27, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Headscarf section

The section on the headscarf controversy was irrelevant and I deleted it. The section read: In March 2009, a Muslim woman wearing a headscarf in a Navy Federal branch was asked to be served outside of the normal service line, due to a security policy which says members can be refused service if they obscure their head or face while in a branch. Navy Federal later apologized to the woman, and stated that their policy makes explicit exceptions for religious coverings.[3] ^ http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/10/AR2009031003981.html

Is there a pattern of discrimination or "controversy" involving Navy Federal? No. The section should be added to an article on Islam in the United States, or Islam and discrimination, not an informational article about a credit union. Foreignshore (talk) 22:44, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Foreignshore
