[edit] Exact date of riot

What was the exact date of the October 2000 riots? Its just useless to have only the month October wikilinked. A date would be more useful. Graham 06:54, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I edited this article to reflect a more neutral point of view. Furthermore I couldn't find any reputable sources that said the snipers were the main reason the riots broke up, or that they were used to the same extent that this article leads the reader to believe- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg 00:32, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

The name of this article is completely unacceptable. Nor is it the common name, as the references found by google mostly derive either from Wikipedia or from Arutz Sheva. Suggestions as to neutral names are solicited. --Zero 10:45, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

They are commonly known in Israel as the "October 2000 riots".--Doron 11:41, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

I think the title should indicate the subject more exactly. What about "October 2000 riots in Israel?" --Zero 12:35, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
In general, it seems to me, article titles do not need to be specific (for example, Great Uprising), unless there is disambiguity, but your suggestion is fine by me nevertheless (or how about "October 2000 riots (Israel)"?). Do you know what the riots are called in international media (if they are mentioned)?--Doron 13:24, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

Must we always fight Zero? I suppose I would agree to a name change of the article title but I don't believe the present one is "unacceptable" since many other titles follow a similar vein.

Also in reference to your other changes, not only have you edited valid information but you have deleted simple grammatical corrections which is simply irritating. I feel in light of past confrontations with you I should remind you to be civil and avoid being condencending in the probable event of an upcoming dispute. I have edited the previous versions to address your complaints, so please no edit wars and no stubborness.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg 11:52, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

It's true, I have little patience for dedicated POV pushers. --Zero 12:35, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Merging with al-Aqsa Intifada

Does anyone oppose merging and redirecting this article into the al-Aqsa Intifada article? Some of the content listed here is already over there, so this seems somewhat redundant. Five 2005 December 27 04:35 (UTC)

[edit] Listing names of the dead: all or none.

As of now, the only victim who is named is "Jan Bechor, an Israeli civilian from Rishon LeZion...". The 12 Israeli Arabs + 1 Palestinian killed are unnamed, and their homeplaces are not mentioned. To make this more balanced, we could add this (after "This resulted in the deaths of 12 Israeli-Arabs and 1 Palestinian."):
"They were Aseel Hassan Asaleh from Arabeth, Ahmed Ibrahim Siyyam Jabarin from Kafr Ma´awiya, Rami Gharra from Jatt, Mohammed Mahmud Jabarin from Umm al Fahm, Emad Faraj Ghanem from Sakhnin, Waleed Abd el-Menem Abu Saleh from Sakhnin, Eyad Sobhi Lawabny fro Nazareth, Omar Akawi from Nazareth, Mohammed Khalib Hamaysa from Kafr Kana, Ala Khaled Mansourr from Arabeth, Rames Abbas Bushnark from Kafr Manda, Wasom Yizbek from Nazareth and Misleh Hussein Abu-Jarad from Gaza."[1]
Another alternative is to remove the inf. about Jan Bechor...
A third alternative: is to add the above, but remove the wiki-link on all of the names of the victims. Any comments? Regards, Huldra 22:30, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Ok, (a bit late): since nobody had any comments: I went ahead with the third alternative. Regards, Huldra 23:48, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

If you can describe the name and circumstances of the first palestinan victim in a way that adds to the article then I would think that is a good idea, previously you added names in a way that was essentially a mere list, it clearly didn't belong in the article as it was originally written. Also Your accusations were in extremely poor taste.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 03:15, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

First: I call something for racism when I see it as racism. It`s as simple as that. I think that the article as you have left it is in extremely poor taste. The only victim that happen to become "human" enough to deserve a name.....just "happens" to be the only non-Arab. (Also: you did't even link to the list of Pal. victims!). I could easily write some more about some of the victims: I was indeed thinking of writing some more about the children, (some as young as 12, if I remember correctly).
The main reason that I want to expand this article is that everything I have read about the Arab Israeli community underline what a turning-point October 2000 was. Every single article mentions it! (well, that I have seen, that is. It is a few.)
And also: The double standard here on wp is mindblowing: at Israeli Arabs POV pushers insist on 3-4 sentences one one Israeli Arab convicted of planning to carry out terrorist attacks... (source only given in Hebrew)..but if an Israeli Arab is killed (and his killers of course not even punished)...then we shall not even mention their name?... Or where they came from?.... 8-< "Space"-wise "your" version of this article makes 13 killed Arabs about 1/4 as important as 1 Arab convicted of attemting terrorism..... You know; I`m sorry if I seem tasteless to you but I can`t help it: it does seem like racism to me.
(However: just now I don`t have opertunity to expand/do more: My computer have been failing these last few days, and today I left it in for repair. I`m just scraping by until I get it back.) Regards, Huldra 19:33, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

I know your right, there is a huge conspiracy that is prevalent all over every wikipedia article. Their objective is to make Israeli arabs and palestinians look bad while Jews aren't shown as the evil bastards they are. lol, give me a break. Your being very irrational, why can't you see that a mere list seems very out of place. I've already told you that you should find the circumstances of the death of the first arab victim and place it in the article. I'll do some of my own research and find it since I'll guess you are going to stay recalcitrant.

[edit] The name of this article

is utterly unacceptable. Nor is it a common name used in Israel. It's a name given by some in the Israeli right. --Zero 10:35, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Why don't you ask some one in Israel ? it is the name used in Hebrew wikipedia. Zeq 19:35, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

It is definitely the commonly used term regarding tese events, including by leftist newspapers. See:

By way of explanation, my comment which heads this section was made when the article name had something like "Arab assault" in it. I don't strongly object to "October 2000 riots (Israel)". --Zero 14:13, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
