Talk:Oostduinkerke
[edit] Dunes
"Oostduinkerke lies amidst a vast dune area (approximately 2,40 km²), which is now a protected nature reserve."
2,4 sq km is not exactly a vast area, is it? I'll remove the words "vast" until someone can cite a source for this. --Michaël 12:33, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Koksijde
Oostduinkerke is part of Koksijde, but that doesn't mean that everything on Koksijde should be included in the Oostduinkerke article! Most of the article before I edited it was about Koksijde or Sint Idesbald, not about Oostduinkerke. Even the pictures where not from Oostduinkerke but from Koksijde and De Panne. The rest of the article read as if it was a tourist brochure instead of an encyclopedic article, so I changed the tone of the article as well. I'm going to move the things I removed to the Koksijde article. -Michaël 13:04, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Apparently I removed a little bit too much; there actually are several British cemeteries in both Oostduinkerke and Koksijde. It's in both articles now.--Michaël 13:20, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Etymology of 'Oostduinkerke'
As explained in the French and Dutch version of this article, 'Oostduinkerke' means 'Church of the Eastern Dunes' (the Easter Dunes are located at the east of the village) and not 'Eastern Dunkirk'. I will change the text. MichelHamels 06:53, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed. Also removed that non-information about Dunkirk and the French border... doesn't have anything to do with this village. --LimoWreck 18:51, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
