For more information do some research or google the above title “UMN Intl: The Rise of Political Islam A Baraka unto the Muslim World” The most outstanding work on strengthening Political Islam is done by an organization known as the United Muslim Nations International.

Umm, yeah, I am the world's foremost expert on this topic and I just wanted to say that this article really misses some big points and is wholly misleading if not all-out wrong. - We don't blank articles like that for rewriting. If you wish to sign up for an account and rewrite it in your own userspace, then dandy, but blanking the article and stating "rewrite for accuracy" is not the way it's done. Alternately, f you have specific problems with the article, bring them up here on the talk page (preferably at the bottom of the page), and other editors will look into it. This article is a replacement for Islamism (and for that matter Islamofascism, radical Islamist and the other often-deleted trash written on this subject from propaganda sources). It incorporates all material from Islamism and does not have its USPOV problems. Most sources used (Nutting 1961, Sardar 1994, Jansen 1980) are British, spread over a long enough time period that there is less risk of reflecting just one view of these events:
Islam as a political movement focuses on the evolution of the various 20th century ways Islam got involved in politics, and is meant to complement militant Islam, on the groups, tactics, doctrines, major leaders and goals. Fusing the two is paying over-much attention to terrorism and thus giving short shift to the democratic Islamists who run in elections, the community building clerics in places like Palestine and Iraq, and the quite real accomplishments of Shia clerics in government in Iran.
It is also extremely offensive to lump the ideology of the government of Saudi Arabia onto the same list as Al Qaida, as the old article did. Whose interests does that serve? Yes bin Laden is a Saudi - and both George W. Bush and Malcolm X are Americans.

- Political Islam thought based on an idea, which says, “The prophet is our leader, Islam is our ideology and Holy Qur’an is our Constitution”. (Karam, 2004, 4). Surely, Prophet Mohammed himself was a leader of the original polity of Islam. According to Ziauddin Sardar, no matter what issue was, whenever Prophet faced a social and political problem he would discussed issue with Muslims participation in order to reach a consensus in the Islamic community. Thus, a democratic spirit was a central to communal and “political life” in early Islam (Sardar, 2004, 31). Of course, Prophet Mohammed Shari`ah was a problem-solving methodology for social and political issues rather than an unchangeable absolute law (Sardar, 2002). Problem is how the general notion of Islam has been reduced to “political Islam”, particularly in recent times with Islamists. However, in present time, Prophet Mohammed has been reduced to signs and symbols. His beard and clothes have been turned into fetish. Hadiths are quoted to justify the most extremist behaviour in the Islamic communities. As Sardar argue, the spirit of Prophet Mohammed’s behaviour, the moral and ethical dimension of his action, his humanity and compassion has been subsumed by the logic of absurd reduction.(Sardar 2003, 12). Numerous other concepts of Qur’an have gone trough a similar process of reduction as we have seen in the example of Prophet Mohammed. The concept of “ummah”, the global spiritual community of Muslim has been reduced to the ideals of the nation state. My country is wrong or right has been changed to my ummah is wrong or right. The concept of jihad also needs to be examined in this context. It has been reduced to a single meaning of Holy War. Furthermore, it reduced to war by any means, including “terrorism” (Sardar, 2004, 31). Because its intellectual and social components have been stripped away. Esposito is making very good point in this respect, he says, “in the late twentieth and twentieth first centuries, the concept of “jihad” has gained remarkable currency. Resistances, liberations, and terrorist movements use concept of jihad alike to legitimate their cause and motive their followers” (Esposito, 2004, 26). Consequently, as Sardar says any one can declare jihad on anyone without any ethical or moral rhyme or reason.(Sardar 2004, 31). According to Aziz Al- Azmeh (Azmeh, 2003), the phenomena of “political Islam” emerged when traditional Islamic culture met modern western culture and it has been strengthened by fast changing political, economic and social conditions. Moreover, “Politics of Islam” became an image or a powerful political weapon for any states or groups since the Islamic belief is still effective over Muslim world and it can be used in any way for political and economic interests. --Alibektas 08:26, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Some missing elements in this article:
- a good discussion of Libya, Algeria, Somalia, Sudan, and of course Indonesia and the Philippines, where some of the anti-colonial strains become a lot more obvious - the postwar handing over of Indonesia to the Dutch, who suppressed a local revolt, was just as much of a betrayal as giving Syria to the French, and probably had just as much impact
- a good discussion of convergence between the goals of Islam as a political movement and those of localization movements. There are now a lot of articles on this, notably on how the Four Pillars of the Green Party for instance resemble the political goals of Islam as originally constituted. Also Buffalo Bank, Islamic bank, role of micro-capital need to be discussed.
- detailed discussion of the form of the Islamic Caliphate that the globalized groups sometimes advocate.
- detailed refutation of the UK view of Islam as an inherently primitive political force and US view of Islam as an inherently violent reactive force, and the patronizing nonsense (such as "Children of Abraham") and propaganda being produced now as part of the active propaganda effort to promote these views as part of an Imperial mandate to "fix" Islam.
- more detailed discussion of modern Islamic philosophy as applied by the nominally "Islamist" parties (understandable since this was originally supposed to be just about Islamism, the dominant strain therein). This might include some of the following text removed from that article (since this one now covers the related politics):

I am not going to comment on the above points. Rather, I am concerned about the way that this anonymous person is unilaterally trying to rewrite all of our articles on Islam and Islamism, to push a decidedly anti-American agenda. Many of the claims he makes are provably false.

That is not to say that some of his other ideas are all bad; some may be valuble. But his current tactic is to copy current Wikipedia articles, rewrite them to fit his own POV, incorporate some provavbly false claims, and then give them new titles.

This entire "article" is has already been discussed on the Wiki-En list, and this article should not exist. It existed solely to gives EoT's POV on Islam. - If this article is EoT's POV of Islam, I think it is a good view. If your problem with the article is that EoT wrote most of it, just pretend it was me or something, as you know articles doesn't have "authors" here. I also find this name much better than the other alternatives. The article has been discussed on WikiEN-l, which is kind of weird, because the correct place to discuss this article is here. In any case, there was no agreement on WikiEn-l that this article should not exist - see, for example, Anthere's post, just as there appears to be no agreement here. Martin 17:32, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)
While I perceive biases in this article, I don't think it should simply be redirected to Islamism, as it makes the point that there are different Islamic political groups with different goals, rewhile directing to Islamism implies that any Muslim who bases his politics on his view of Islam is part of a "fundamentalist, puritanical Islamic revival movement". However, the article currently spends little or no time saying things like "Group X thinks that this should be done, while Group Y thinks that should be done".
Particularly, "Islam is inherently political" and "There is no separation of church and state responsibilities in any branch of Islam" seem POV. Consdier the millions of Muslims living in the United States. Are all of them trying to get Islamic religious laws enacted as the laws of the land? If not, are those who aren't trying to do so "not real Muslims"?
Also, I think linking to Militant Islam rather than Islamism is off (even if the Islamism article should be given a different name/title). It implies that all Muslims who would like to establish a "fundamentalist, puritanical" state use violence, and visa-versa. -- Khym Chanur 06:37, Oct 27, 2003 (UTC)

This page is way too long, for the pittance of information it actually gives. It would ALMOST be better to delete than to have it.
But what we need is a clear explanation of the political aspects of Islam. No one in the West understands it. Or if they do, they haven't dropped by the Wikipedia yet. *sigh* I might have to become an expert on it, just to revise this article. With 10,000 registered users, why must it be me?
Okay, the pity party is over. I learned a lot about Middle Eastern politics to write about the Arab-Israeli conflict and revise articles like Palestinian. I guess I could take on a little more. But I'd rather work on the Wikipedia:NPOV tutorial. Help me out, eh? --Uncle Ed 21:19, 24 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Section 2 of this article is very POV throughout. Problems include:
- Controversial opinions about Islam which others may not agree with. Examles:
- Islam is inherently political
- . . .adding "ism" to the term Islam adds nothing useful to Muslims
- The grounds for more liberal interpretation of Islam are not in dispute.
- Inflamatory rhetoric that is more propaganda than encyclopedia. Examples:
- It is also not possible, as another tenet within Islam, to stand idly by as fellow Muslims are oppressed, attacked or colonized
- . . .seems to imply that a "tame" or "colonizable" Islam can exist which does not involve political activity.
- . . .justifying its oppressions in the name of Islam!
- Off topic opinions and info
- Iraqis attacking U.S. occupation troops after the 2003 invasion of Iraq were and are very often described as "terrorists", despite the fact that they are natives resisting an invasion not authorized by the United Nations.
- In the United States in the 1960s for instance. . .

Thanks for the improvements! I still have some problems with parts of it, but it's much better. I'm now convinced that section 2 can be salvaged, instead of removed. No source is given. Who in their right mind would not recognize a movement to establish an "Islamist state" as being "Islamist?" If some particular Islamist movement (perhaps in Iraq) is designated as beign a "terrorist organization" by "the West," it does not mean that "the West" no longer recognizes it as being an "Islamist movement." Indeed, there are Islamist terrorist organizations. This statement, in the article, is a priori factually incorrect and should be removed. The discussion about elements of the Iraqi resistance being labelled as "terrorists" by "the West," as part of some conspiracy to discredit the resistance, is completely irrelevant. --Zeno of Elea 05:56, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
Agreed. I got rid of the Iraq part which is completely irrelevant. Not sure how to rewrite the rest. There are some other gems:
- What these groups have in common tends to be opposition to the United States and Israel.
- Another profound bias of such classifications is that it is quite rare to include nominally Christian or Jewish or Buddhist guerillas in any analysis of those faiths' views of politics, but quite common if it is Islam under discussion—and likely being criticized.
- The following sources generally prescribe to the theory that there is a distinct 20th century movement called Islamism that exists independently of Jewish/Christian observers and motivations:
- ... in part a result of Islam being suppressed prior to modern times.
- But what is actually put into practice is a small number of classical juristic rulings...These are in fact 'outer limit' laws to be carried out only under extreme conditions...
- Despite the assertion that somehow all so-called Islamism is related, more moderate trends were well-funded...

This article looks like a bunch of creative writing by some middle schooler. Edits should be sourced, and should make precise statements. Sentences like "Islam is a religion which has existed for over fourteen centuries" illustrates the problem. - Unless this article is significantly expanded, this should be merged with Political aspects of Islam. Currently, this article contains two, not particularly enlightening sentences: "Islamic politics is the profession of Muslim politicians. It is the field of politics within the bounds of Islam." These are tautological definitions. Political aspects of Islam, on the other hand, is an extensive, if disputed, article, that explicitly deals with "politics within the bounds of Islam." There may be an entire class of political activities that do not fall within the boundaries of said article, involving not explicitly religious politics shaped by Islamic jurisprudence. Currently, this article contains no information on such issues. In its current state, the list at the end of this article should be inserted into Political aspects of Islam. [edit] Standards for "Further Reading" section
As of now, the Further Reading section is spammed with non-academic, "popular" books on the subject, all (except three) tilting towards a right-wing (for lack of a better terms) political bias.
Their is currently ONE book on the list printed by a university press.
Robert Spencer[1], Paul L. Williams and Andrew Bostom have no academic credentials regarding Islam. Several of the books do not specifically address Political Aspects of Islam(, like "The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion" by Robert Spencer.)
I propose that all books under the Further Reading section be academic titles. So, Bat Ye'or may stay on the list as long as whatever book of hers provided relates to Political Aspects of Islam.--Kitrus 05:57, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

To paraphrase another editor above, this article looks like the ramblings of an opinionated undergrad who just completed his Introduction to Islam class. The article on Islamism covers what is essentially the same topic; moreover, it is written better and makes proper use of reliable sources. I think this article should just be canned, and we should simply transfer any potentially useful information to the Islamism article. Or, we could perhaps merge them and put Islamism as a section within this article, since Islamism is basically political Islam in a specific (modern) context. I suppose the other alternative would be to make this article much more historically oriented and lift the focus off of modern trends within Islam. As of right now, the two articles cross each other so much that this basically looks like a diffuse version of the other article. -Rosywounds (talk) 07:44, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

From the sentence: Islamists claim that the origins of Islam as a political movement are to be found in the life and times of Islam's prophet, Muhammad and his successors, the Caliphs (for Sunnis), or the Imams (for Shia). I cut off the Caliphs (for Sunnis), or the Imams (for Shia), as it is much more complicated than that, since Islamists don't agree.
For example, Islamist Muhammad Qutb only talks about the caliphs Abu Bakr and Umar as exemplary. Taqiuddin al-Nabhani, of Hizb ut-Tahrir, on the other hand, maintains Islam did not really go wrong until the abolition of the Caliphate in 1922.
Also, Shia conside the Imams to be Caliphs, i.e. the rightful sucessors of the prophet, although they seldom use the word "Caliph" in my experience. --BoogaLouie (talk) 19:54, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Islam has been misunderstood and mistreated as a religion – as one of the world religions. The world has demeaned it by treating it as such. IT IS NOT A RELIGION AT ALL. Religion divides and does not unite mankind. Islam unites and does not divide mankind. It is the World –State. It is the world government run by the Muttaqin who are all self-realized and self-exalted men receiving inspiration and guidance from their Sole Sovereign, Allah. They are inspired not to govern but to serve the people of the world according to the mandate of the Universal Sovereign Allah – The mandate of the Code of Procedure as revealed and preserved in the Eternal Qur-aan, as illustrated in the Uswa-i-Hasanah and as amplified in the services of the Constructional Caliphs. Islam acknowledges only the Sovereignty of Allah to equalize, liberalize and fraternize mankind under the clarion blast of ALLAH AKBAR – the Sovereign Allah alone is Great. All other claimants to sovereignty are pretenders and rebels against the Din or the Government of Allah – in other words, against Islam. The Eternal Qur-aan commands the Muttaqin or the Warriors of Allah to wage and carry on a non-stop war till the world becomes one World-State and humanity becomes one brotherhood – equal and free united under the banner of One Universal Sovereign Allah (Al Qur-aan 2:193). This is the Tawhid proclaimed by Islam (….).
To define exactly:
ISLAM IS THE GOVERNMENT OF ALLAH, BY THE MUTTAQIN, FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD.
Muttaqin are servants of Allah to serve the people and not to rule them. They are those who follow the Uswa-i-Hasaanah of the Prophet (S.M.) and the service-examples of the Constitutional Caliphs of Islam.
Islam is a World-State, and not a world religion. The world has demeaned Islam by treating it as a religion. Religion is subordinate to the state. It has no army. It has priesthood, unarmed and stingless and can be challenged by the state authority. It abases itself before the royalty. But Islam is armed truth. It is armed to crush all satanic forces and to make the justice of Sovereign Allah, the truth about Allah and the beauty of the harmony that is Islam – prevail upon the earth. Unarmed Islam is no Islam at all. Because it cannot enforce the justice of Allah, it cannot enforce its constitutional laws as they are in the Qur-aan. A state-religion is inconceivable in Islam. It is not meant to play a second fiddle to the state.
Mission of Islam :
Rab’i ibn ’Aamr, the envoy of Islam to Rustam, the commander-in-chief of the army of Iran at the battle of Qaadisiyah, presented the mission of Islam to be as follows:
To emancipate mankind – 1. From the slavery of man to man , and make them equal by making them all slaves of Allah alone; 2. From the tyranny of religions, and make them all equally subject to the justice of Islam; 3. From the narrow territorial divisions of the earth, and keep it wide open 9for free movements of mankind throughout the world to make it one World-Kingdom of Allah). Tawhid is the eternal message of Islam. The central concept of Tawhid is “Allah is One and He likes Unity”. Its formula is Laa Ilaaha Illa-Allah, there is no sovereigh except Allah. Its corollaries are one, Umamh – one world fraternity of mankind and one world kingdom of Allah.
The modus operandi is the second part of the formula of Tawhid – Muhammad-ur Rasulul-llah – Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah – the guide to show mankind how to implement the formula of Unity – of Tawhid. Therefore, by following the ideal pattern of service and sacrifice alone of the Messenger of Allah, the World unity and world peace can be attained and ensured permanently.
In the world polity of Islam, there is no human sovereign. The clarion trumpet of the Eternal Qur-aan is ALLAHU AKBAR – Allah alone is Great and all men as servants of Allah, are equal, and free and they constitute on Ummah. In the nobility of the state of Islam, the highest and the noblest among them is the one who is most dedicated to Tawhid, that is, to Sovereign Allah and the unity and welfare of mankind in the world kingdom of Allah (Al Qur-aan 49:137).
Such is the fundamental basis of the World Order of Islam. On the human side, it postulates a fundamental worth in human nature and an inescapable moral responsibility for every individual who must give an account to His Sovereign Master, on the Day of Judgment. Moreover, it postulates that men who accept the divine prescription should live together in a community embodying a fundamental pattern of justice.
In the modern age, the state of Islam does not exist anywhere in the world. How can it, therefore, play its role to save humanity from its imminent peril?
The state of Islam was in existence and full operation – and it was a reality in the diamond age of the Messenger of Allah (S.M.) and the golden age of the Constitutional Caliphs of Islam. It is now a matter of history.
There must therefore be a return to the culture which the Eternal Qur-aan upholds and promotes – a culture which is a synthesis of the heart and the brain, of sweetness and light, of beauty and truth, of art and science and of love and progress. There must be a spiritual integration of culture if mankindis to survive. And this is what this world of Islam of the Eternal Qur-aan promises. This Eternal Book is a restatement of universal truths and values. It is a fountain of inspiration for heroic deeds and valorous performances. “The spirit behind the social laws of the Qur-aan is the only right one and can prove immensely useful in building the new world. It is the greatest force working for unity in the war-torn and hate-ridden world.” – (H. Kaur).
No conflict in the state of Islam between authority and freedom:
To the westerners, who have invented the nation states, the national sovereignties and the atom bomb, law is a system of commands sanctioned by the majority of the elected representatives in a sovereign national assembly. A human sovereign majority elected by the promiscuous, unthinking and volatile multitude is totally alien to Islamic jurisprudence. In the western legal system, therefore, the problem of reconciling the authority of man with the freedom of man still remains a riddle unresolved. But in the world-order of Islam, the Sole Sovereign is Allah. There being no human ruler, there is no conflict in the state of Islam between authority and freedom. All men are equally free and equally entitled to respectable means of living in the world kingdom of Allah. The ‘Shariah’ which is the Islamic term for law comprehends the whole duty of man and covers all aspects of life, - spiritual, moral, political, economic, social and private,- private and public hygiene,- even courtesy and good manners.

[edit] No Human Ruler in Islam
“’Umar said to Salman: ‘Am I a king or a Caliph?’ and Salman answered: ‘If you have levied from the lands of the Muslims one dirham, or more, or less and applied it unlawfully, you are a king, not a Caliph.’ And ‘Umar Wept.” – (At-Tabari, Ta’rikh ar-Rasul wa’l-Muluk.)
Man is born in Islam and is free. He is bred in secularism and is enchained. To be in Islam, therefore, is to be free; to be in secularism is to be in chains.
The guide-line of man in Islam is LAA- ILAAHA- ILLA- ALLAH, that is, there is no sovereign except Allah. It is the greatest formula ever defined for the total guidance of mankind at large. The yet unresolved problem of reconciling authority with freedom is resolved in this dictum. According to it, there is and there can be no human ruler in the State of Islam. All are equal and free – subject only to the sole sovereign authority of ALLAH.
It is to the glory of man in Islam that he admits no human ruler, in any form, to rule over him. There is no priesthood in Islam either – no prelacy. All are warriors of Allah to fight the demons of inequality, ignorance, injustice, enslavement and disunion.
Even Muhammad Rasul-ullaah (sm) was not a ruler of mankind. He was a servant of Allah and his messenger to deliver unto mankind, once for all, the message of LAA- ILAAHA- ILLA- ALLAH, that is, there is no human sovereign over man. The sovereign over him is Allah alone!
The services of Muhammad Rasul-ullah to his sovereign Allah found expression in the lightning forward dashes in battles for the liberation of mankind from the tortures, tyrannies, and humiliations of slavery, religious persecutions and wars of aggressions. There services make the universal order of divine justice and freedom, within the prescribed limitation-ordinances of Allah, prevail in His kingdom upon the earth. In the ten years war operation led by Muhammad Rasul-ullaah for the liberation of mankind, the number of war casualties were only 10104 – 255 Muslims and 759 non-Muslims.
The associates of Muhammad Rasul-ullaah were his comrades-in-arms and not his subjects. They were all free citizens of Islam subject only, as dedicated servants, to their sole sovereign – ALLAH.
The constitutional Caliphs of Islam were servants of Allah to serve and not to rule mankind. Their services to Allah found expression in the two-pronged lightning forward dashes against the then two world powers the Byzantines and the Sasanids – for the liberation of mankind groaning under their arbitrary rulers and enslavement and for making the order of the justice of Islam prevail in the liberated territories irrespective of creed, colour or race of the liberated peoples.
The dashing, gushing and roaring Islam poured all the accumulated treasures of the world at their feet. It created a deluge of wealth. But their leader, Muhammad Rasul-ullaah, his family and the associate comrades in arms succeeded in keeping their feet dry. But the great body of men – the vast rank and file were drowned when they had no strong leader to guide them along the path of pristine-pure Islam.
When, therefore, they started quarrelling over the mess of pottage, the Universal Blessing – the Divine Islam of Universal Justice and Freedom slipped out of grasp but preserved intact in the Eternal Quran for the guidance of future leaders and warriors of Islam. It is the slough of Islam in cowl, hood and cloak that has divided itself into innumerable warring sects and sectarian creeds and has make itself the ridicule of the world.
Islam is not a religion. It is not the opium of inaction. On the other hand, it a challenge to all religions. It trots, it tramps and it roars Allahu Akbar to proclaim the Sovereign Allah alone is Great and, under the banner of Allahu Akbar, all men are to be united into one world brotherhood – equal and free – in a united and undivided world kingdom of Allah upon the earth. It roars Allahu Akbar five times a day from the minarets to proclaim the eternal truth which ISLAM , the Deen or the Government of Allah for mankind stands for the uphold.
The Divine Islam of universal justice and freedom is for the whole world. All world leaders, therefore, can take guidance and inspiration from the Eternal Book of Islam, Al-Quran, to make universal justice and universal peace rule the world.
To guarantee freedom for all, Islam promulgates that no man in the world shall remain foodless, cloth-less, homeless, unarmed, unhealthy and uncultured and withal, no man shall be allowed freedom to gratify his every whim of luxury. The sole target of Islam is to rear up sturdy universal characters, as dedicated warriors of Allah, to declare a total war on poverty, misery, ignorance, inequality, slavery in any form and on the fomenters of disunity and wars of self-annihilation. These universal characters will further be the enterprising architects and builders of the world edifice of unity, equality, fraternity and liberty of mankind. The education and training in the universal values of Islam will bring about ordered discipline in the individual and also respect for the rights of others – fellow-brothers in the world milieu.

Islam is the Ordained World Order, of allegiance to Sovereign Allah, to the World Government of Allah, run by the muttaqin to serve, and not to rule, mankind in His world kingdom.
One Sovereign – There is no Sovereign except Allah (Al-Qur-aan, 37:35/47:19)
Note: ILAH – Sovereign. “There is no sovereign except Allah”, this is the great formula of Sovereignty in Islam. In fact, this is the message of the Eternal Qur-aan – the core, the essence, of the revelation. The Sovereignty of Allah is the rallying point of world humanity as is the march past around the Kabah at Makkah.
One Humanity – Humanity is One brotherhood (Al-Qur-aan, 21:92/23:52)
One World – The indivisible kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah [The Sole Sovereign of this indivisible kingdom] (Al-Qur-aan, 3:189)
There are five basic institutions on which the world edifice of Islam is reared up –
1. Imaan – Motive force to heroic performance in allegiance to Sovereign Allah, to attain world unity, world peace and plenty for all. Innal lazeena aamanu wa ‘amelus salehat therefore means ‘indeed those who have activated the motive force for heroism and perform heroic deeds to attain Islam – to attain world allegiance to Sovereign Allah and thereby attain world unity and world peace and plenty for all in the world kingdom of Allah.
About Imaan, we have this guidance from the prophet: ‘Whoso from amongst you sees an outrage being committed, he should prevent it with his hand (using force); if he cannot do it, he should use his tongue to prevent it; if he cannot do this even, then at heart, 9he should treat is as abominable and shun it). But this is a case of the weakest Imaan.
Imaan fires enthusiasm inspirits the will to conquer and inculcates contempt of death to reach the target of world unity and world peace.
The belief in the Universal Sovereignty of Allah and the Uswa-i-Hasanah, that is, the ideal life-pattern and life-examples of Muhammad, (sm) the Messenger of Allah, to show mankind the effective way to implement this Sovereignty.
2. Salaat – The forman service of allegiance to Sovereign Allah and of self-dedication to the World-Order of Islam.
3. Siyaam – Practice of self-abnegation, self-purgation and self-purification through services of allegiance and rigid fasting during daylight hours, and thereby receive inspiration for more and more welfare services to promote unity, peace and plenty.
It is the ordained process of self-purification to keep the body and sould in a state of perfect trim.
4. Zakaat – The compulsory state levy at prescribed rates on the annual net savings after meeting all kinds of liabilities and expenditures.
Unused and un-invested surplus (al-‘afw), is however, is to be surrendered to, and to be collected by, the state of Islam, which guarantees security of means and employment on a world basis to all. These measures have been enacted to finance the welfare programme of the state to eradicate and banish poverty, ignorance and all kinds of maladies from the world.
“They ask you as to how much they should spend (for the cause of humanity for Allah’s sake). Say: The entire Surplus. (Al-Qur’an, 2:219).
Take the Surplus, promote good, and ignore the uninformed (for the truth and justice of Islam to prevail). (Al-Qur’an, 7:199)
5. Hajj – The Annual March Past of humanity around the ‘Kabah and the Annual World Moot at ‘Arafah, and Muzdalifah and the Annual Campaigns and the Annual Social Dinners at the plateau of Mina to demonstrate and keep alive the sense of unity of the human race. The Hajj is an institution which inspires mankind to live as world citizens.
The World-Order is the goal of the forward spirits of the 20th century. People should, therefore, study the Eternal Qur-aan and the Uswa-i-Hasanah – the ideal implementation of the universal principles of the Eternal Qur’aan – minutely for this grand purpose. For, Islam, according to the eternal revealed principles in the Qur-aan, is the World-Order.
