| WikiProject To-do list: |
edit · history · watch · purge
The "to do" list is for uncontroversial tasks. Anything uncertain or controversial should be discussed on the talk page first.
- Articles:
- Work on the stubs. (Pick one that interests you and go for it).
- Improve the key articles - here's some to start:
- Find and upload public-domain pictures to illustrate articles. Sources include:
- Pictures you've taken yourself.
- yotophoto.com - lets you search for free images (check the licence to be sure it's compatible with Wikipedia. Ask for help if you're unsure.)
- US federal government (?)
- Find images (e.g. on an organization's website) and get an explicit statement from the owner that they release the image to public domain, GNU or other suitable licence.
- Categories, linking and organization of articles:
- Tasks related to the WikiProject itself:
- Get this page sorted. See Wikipedia:WikiProject & Wikipedia:WikiProject/Best practices
- Write up the scope on this page (near top); use it to explain this WikiProject at Wikipedia:List of WikiProjects
- Promote the project - don't be pushy, just let people know. Some things to consider:
- People who work (paid or volunteer) in the development field;
- People who are into permaculture or sustainability are often into appropriate technology and concerned about international development, so tell them about this project.
- Politically active people. Many people across the political landscape are concerned about these issues. And they often have email lists or newsletters that you can post a brief notice on.
- Inside Wikipedia: Paste {{WikiProject International development}} on relevant talk pages. If a topic is only marginally related, then just put a note, telling people about it. (Use [[Wikipedia:WikiProject International development]] to link to the project page.

[edit] Editing Done to Remove Overlaps
The Poverty and Poverty reduction articles overlap in much of the strategic information presented in the reduction page. Therefore, the section on poverty reduction on the Poverty page will be shortened substantially to simple summaries of each topic area in order to remove the repetition of these sections. - Valerie.H.Le (talk) 08:22, 28 March 2011 (UTC) Poverty is often understood to be an essential element of renunciation in religions such as Buddhism (only for monks, not for lay persons)
- This is not true it is simplicity that is an essential element to renunciation not poverty.Ask any Buddhist monk. They'll laugh if you say that poverty is an essential element because then it is obvious that all the poor people would attain nirvana easily. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.135.68.54 (talk) 07:10, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
