Process engineering is by no means restricted to chemical engingeering and therefore cannot be a synonym for it. The article should be totally redone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roland.voegeli (talk • contribs) 13:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Agreed. Saying process engineering is a synonym for chemical engineering is like saying human resources is a synonym for management. No, processing engineering is a subset activity that can be done for chemical engineering processes, as well as every other type of engineering.
