RL is still publicly traded. The only connection to l'oreal that I can find is that they make the fragrance. Please give a reference before making this claim again Doc 14:57, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ridiculous name change
Ralph Lauren's last name is Lifschitz, someone changed it to Lifshitz —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.84.231.232 (talk) 17:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- You're mistaken. Google the two variants and you'll see that there are about 5 times as many references to "Lifshitz" than "Lifschitz". I'm not suggesting truth-finding by Google, but it strongly suggests you're mistaken. I've reverted it. If you think that you have primary-source information to prove your point (such as a scan of his birth certificate), by all means -- post it. Otherwise, leave it alone. And sign in, rather than posting anonymously, fer chrissakes. Bricology (talk) 19:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

- Lifschitz, schmifschitz - if I had that name I'd change it too.86.42.198.105 (talk) 22:39, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Cameo and Trivia
IMHO there should be a small trivia section, including Cameo appearances and such. (He did have a cameo in Friends, didn't he?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.174.122.220 (talk • contribs) 13:19, 24 July 2006
- All trivia sections will over time be removed. There has been consensus that trivia is unencyclopaedic. Any fact that is pertinent enough, should be included in the body of the text. Doc 22:40, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- I didn't know that and for now I disagree with the consencus since it's a simple way of listing smaller facts regarding (any) subject that are worth mentioning. But of course I will keep up with Wikipidian guidelines and discourage the use of Trivia-sections everywhere :-). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.174.122.220 (talk • contribs) 09:39, 1 August 2006
[edit] Name Change
As the person who discovered the actual petition for Lauren's name change, I know how it happened and so deleted the claim that his eldest brother Lenny also changed his name at the same time. It was just Jerry and Ralph. Lenny di dchange his name later. Nomdevdt 17:29, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Michael Gross
[edit] Name pronounciation
How "Ralph Lauren" is pronounced should be included in the article, specifically "Lauren." It can sound like the name or french. --70.111.218.254 00:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
PRONUNCIATION Please note that the pronunciation of Lauren is LORin - not Lorenne! It is an American name- not french and should be pronounced like the name Lauren in Lauren Bacall. You do not say "Lorenne" Bacall. You say "LORin " Bacall.Say Ralph Lorin and you will be correct. Call the 800 number at Polo.com and ask for the correct pronunciation- they wll give it to you.
[edit] Bias
This seems sort of opinionated. Stating that someone "grew up without fashion" isn't really objective.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.28.108.106 (talk • contribs) 19:25, 2 January 2007
- Suggest a different wording, but the fact that he and others have had great success at creating a look which is the antithesis of their upbringing is interesting in my opinion. Doc ♬ talk 19:29, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- The strange thing is that the next paragraph goes on to say at a very young age he was buying fancy suits. That isn't consistent with "growing up without fashion".
- It seems to mean that he grew up in a world sans haute couture, which he later emulated in his work.SirGrotius 14:21, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Imitations section
This entire section is unsourced, could someone find some? there are no specific or serious allegations in it, but unfounded statements regarding alleged imitators don't have a place on a wikipedia article 1337wesm 02:05, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Chaps
Looking at the Chaps brand profile, it appears the brand is now owned by Phillips-Van Heusen. A quick google search did not reveal anything documenting the sale or transfer. Does anyone know more about this? Goose1011a 20:29, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
The Chaps brand, licensed by Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation to Warnaco, made it's debut at Kohl's Department stores in 2005.[1] The press release continues to state that Polo Ralph Lauren and Warnaco agreed to terms on a license extension of the Chaps brand through 2018. Stay Tuned! --NYcThUgg 16:51, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Gill
In the external link section for this article (and others), I suggest no reference links to a page full of google adsense pub !
[edit] 'Polo Ralph Lauren' vandalized?
It appears the first line has been vandalized. For one, it's the COTY award, not "City." And there's no evidence that he won his first of eight awards for outfits designed for any "teen heartthrob" (and, asking for someone who was a teen in 1970, who the heck is "teen heartthrob Andrew McLean"?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackmingo (talk • contribs) 22:02, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
[[[[File:Ralph Lauren]]File:Http://184.168.243.171/weilintrade/products/upload images/big images/2028/913469 paul shark t-shirts.jpg]] the model have more news and peope all like it and also it is popular in the word too so i thin it is will be well for all — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.111.185.233 (talk) 02:54, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Family section confusing
It starts out stating that Ralph and Ricky have "have two sons and two daughters" then lists the names of two sons and one daughter. It sets a small biography for the three. Then it mentions twins Ella and Mary Lauren which makes no sense. I am not a good editor or writer, however the math doesn't add up. 50.11.83.42 (talk) 12:29, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Also regarding the family section, I thought Ralph Lauren was bisexual. There is nothing here to indicate that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.154.6.241 (talk) 14:04, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
He's not bi. You're thinking of Calvin Klein.68.48.73.34 (talk) 11:36, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
[edit] ALL info deleted?
