I'd just like to question the part of the article "Shortly after the start of World War Two" - if the film was released in 1942, then surely WW2 had been fought for nearly 3 years before then. If, however, it was meant to say "before the American entry into world war two" then that would make more sense. 78.114.103.175 (talk) 18:48, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Corrected. Thanks for pointing that out. WhidbeyIslander (talk) 08:31, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Were there any prophets involved?
"Rumors circulate and prices of the cargo of the Southern Cross go up and down wildly, leaving Steve to suspect a wreck is planned."
I never understood that part. How could anyone know about this in advance, except for the pirates themselves?--80.141.201.229 (talk) 16:35, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
I believe that's the point of this scene: to show that someone (King Cutler) knew a wreck was planned and was going to profit by it. Cutler is a salvage master, not a pirate, so he would be in the business of speculating on values of ship's cargoes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.73.1.1 (talk) 04:28, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
