It might be common sense to think that annulment, which cancels a marriage as if it never happened, would likewise affect the legitimacy of children. Annulment among royalty however, does not have this effect. Even after their annulment, the children of Louis and Eleanor were declared legitimate, with custody of them awarded to Louis.
