[edit] Separate into several articles?
This is a very brief article that attempts to talk about several different types of landforms. It seems that attempting to describe Barrier islands, Sand banks, shoals, and Sandbars with this same article isn't very informative. A barrier island (e.g. Ocracoke is in reality a very different landmass than, say, the Dogger Bank. I don't have enough knowledge about these landforms to properly set up different articles. However I would propose a separate article for:
- Barrier island
- Sandbar or sandbank
- Shoal
