[edit] Question about map

The map currently on the page, Magellan'sVoyage (here captioned "Islands of northern Indonesia and southern Philippines, commonly called the Spice Islands"), confuses me. The text clearly says that the Spice Islands are the Maluku Islands, and yet these islands are only just visible on the map. Most of the map shows the southern Philippines as well as part of Borneo and the northern edge of the Celebes. Further, the map caption claims these areas are in fact the Spice Islands, which contradicts the main text. This is confusing. Can anyone clarify. Thanks. Pfly (talk) 10:29, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merge with Maluku Islands

If this article is only about the Maluku Islands, then shouldn't this article be merged into the Maluku article, or perhaps be renamed History of the Maluku Islands? - Eric (talk) 22:01, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Support. Seems redundant. It says it describes the Maluku Islands as viewed in other cultures, but I can't see any of that. Just history. Even if there was info on other cultures' perceptions, why not include it in the Maluku Islands article? --Merbabu (talk) 09:56, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Support as above SatuSuro 11:04, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Changed - to keep spice islands and the old colonial term as an explanation of an old term and remove material with current info over to the maluku article and remove any mayerial from there with any refs to spice island SatuSuro 08:51, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
