[edit] National Rail

Is Stratford International really part of the National Rail? -Dan 19:08 GMT 28th Jan 2006

At the moment almost certainly not, it will be owned by some wierd private-public partnership thingumy. But since it will be served by the new Integrated Kent Franchise operator I would imagine that it may become integrated in the future. Of course It mught remain as a weird exception like the Heathrow Express. – MrWeeble Talk Brit tv 12:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Open in 2007

Can anyone verify that it is due to open in 2007 ? I don't think I have ever read this except here. The station is due to be ready in 2007 but i) I don't think CTRL are in any hurry to open it ii) I thought a condition of planning consent is it only opened when it had mobility-impaired access to Stratford Regional. Currently the only plans that I know that exist for this are the proposed DLR extension.--Pedantic of Purley 10:56, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

The station will be completed in 2007, but not opened until 2009. Alwaystouchout.com, a page of the London Transport Project states this information. Andiloew 20:53, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Email from Eurostar

Here is an email I received from eurostar when I asked them for a quote...

The history of your discussion with Eurostar

Response on behalf of Eurostar from (Darran, Eurostar.com support) - 08/01/2009 07.40 PM Dear Mr x

Thank you for your e mail,

Stratford international station has been built as part of work on the final phase of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (High Speed 1).

The station is situated in the middle of the Stratford city and London Olympic park developments and currently has no direct rail links and very limited access by road. Whilst construction work is now complete, the station will not be open to passengers until suitable road and public transport links are in place

Eurostar services to France and Belgium are expected to start running from Stratford International in 2010. Once further details regarding the opening date of the station and the range and frequency of our services are confirmed, the information will be made available via our website www.eurostar.com and other media outlets.

Kind Regards Darran, Eurostar.com support

So think that explains it quite well, shame for me, living near by. Can't find a quote in the press stating the same though, so I don't want to add it to the article... Or is there a way of using emails as a note/reference on wikipedia? 217.171.129.72 (talk) 22:35, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

My view is that emails such as the above fail WP:V and may be orginal research. However, in my mind this confirms the Hansard Report (Ref [4]) in which it says 'Eurostar expects to call there as soon as high quality road and public transport links are in place for all customers.', and links this to the opening of the DLR station. There's no fixed date as Eurostar will be waiting for a successful opening of the station. Edgepedia (talk) 06:36, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Eurostar until after 2012

Looks like Eurostar told the UK Government that it will not start services until 2012, at earliest:

BBC: Eurostar 'will not stop' at Stratford International

Quite a shame. --158.143.87.207 (talk) 16:06, 26 May 2010 (UTC) KeplerNiko

Pity the journalist didn't use wikipedia to research his article, else he may have discovered that in any case Eurostars would not have stopped here during the olympics when the javelin service is running. Edgepedia (talk) 17:16, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Westfield Stratford City is now open.

There is now pedestrian access via footpath from the nearby Stratford City Bus Station (part of the Westfield Stratford City complex) and from Westfield Stratford City itself.
